Crye Precision

Crye Precision, a company known for tactical gear popular with law enforcement and active duty military personnel, has made a gun unlike anything we have seen at the SHOT Show this year. Actually, it’s not like anything we’ve ever seen before. The Six12 is a bullpup revolving shotgun. The gun holds six rounds of 12 gauge (get it) in a revolving cylinder. The Six12s are designed to mount to AR platform rails, and make an AR look even much more aggressive. And it looks like it is going to be popular. We had to fight through an excited crowd to get you these pictures.
According to one of the Crye representatives, the original idea was for this add-on to be used for fast breaching. After initial testing, they decided that it would have a lot more uses in threat escalation and home defense situations. This led to the creation of a standalone model that will have a stock and 22” barrel. The Six12 will be able to swap out barrels that will come in 12.5, 18 and 22 inch lengths. The short barrel will require NFA paperwork, but it will be worth the wait. Crye is anticipating a 4th quarter release to law enforcement, with commercial sales to follow. We’ll have one in hand for testing ASAP.
I think it better than crunchy peanut butter…seriously I just love the thing…street sweeper you had to disassemble to reload…this you swap cylinders…just like magazines on an AR…I want one
Does anyone have a vague idea of how much this gal might cost?
starting at around $1800,00
the only thing you really have to worry about your 870 is leaving it fully loaded, even if you pull 2 shells from it you should still cycle it at least once every 3 months just to make sure. Worst case is typically a simple adjustment to the spring in the tube especially if it’s after market. Now I’m not saying you’d never have 30 plus assailants to deal with but normally the sound of a pump shotgun being chambered is enough to deal with the more realistic single intruder and remember if loaded with a 3″ magnum slug if you could get them to all stand single file one round would probably take at least 5 or 6 leaving the remaining 25 zombies to flee out the backdoor.
Pretty sweet looking, useless, but cool non the less
looks very similar to gun made on Suns of guns three years ago.
Bring back the street sweeper
Correct me if I am wrong ,but isn’t this the same principle as the “Street Sweeper”, that was band years ago?
“they decided that it would have a lot more uses in threat escalation and home defense situations” WTF does threat escalation mean? That there are more bad guys than you thought and therefore a 5.56 rifle is “inadequate?” Don’t make up stupid reasons why someone needs this. BTW, I’m working on a miniature AR15 that attaches underbarrel to my Remington 870.
i have to agree with Crye Precision on saying this is better suited for threat escalation and home defense situations. Since you don’t know what “threat escalation/continuum of force” means here a site that explains it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_force_continuum . This shotgun falls under the “Intermediate Weapons” since there is a huge selection of non-lethal 12 gauge ammo being made. As far as “home defense” goes you have to understand the two type of gun owners 1) active gun owner 2)inactive gun owner. the active gun owner generally goes to the range and/or maintain there weapon at least once a month. The inactive gun owner might fire off a few rounds and/or maintain there weapon once or twice a year. sadly a large percent of gun owners fall under inactive. The reason why this would make for a good home defense weapon is because its is using a revolver base platform which can go long periods of time with little to no cleaning and still function. Also when have you ever heard of a revolver having a failure to eject/ failure to feed problem…… i’m pretty sure your 870 can’t boost that.
Threat escalation as in bean bag rounds, and other less than lethal ammo. A step in-between yelling stop and gutting some poor shmuck with 5.56 lol
Threat escalation? It means scarred cops, which most apparently are. I didn’t imply that, police do it all on their own.

As a stand alone, I’m pretty sure I could load a regular shotgun much faster along with the greater capacity. Nothing is better than a shoty for pesky home invaders IMHO. It’s got a good shpread. I’d be more interested in hi cap shoty with an attached AR. That way, you could reach out and get the ones that bolt after you clear your house. I say this jest.
Realistically won’t see this for at least 2 years and will be double the price of an M4.
That’s supposed to be practical home defense?
I don’t understand why ATF made the Street Sweeper a DD but would allow this?
as far as i understand the ATF only label the weapon as a DD not the concept and restricted imports of more weapons and parts. TBH i just think the gun makers were just hating on it b/c it was very reliable for the time, since it could cycle 20 rounds with no failure to feed/failure to eject. the only real draw back was the long reload time.
Bulky, heavy, too many moving parts.
If you want an under barrel multi shot 12 gauge, look at the 5 shot MAUL:
http://www.metalstorm.com/irm/content/maul.html
this is a prime example of someone that plays too much COD if they think people can go out and pick up the metalstorm maul. When I first heard about that weapon I did some research on it. It took me less than 5 mins too figure out that this is 1) A government restricted weapon 2) it is stupid expensive 3) it uses custom ammo that you can only buy from the manufacture.
Metal Storm has also been having financial troubles, so don’t except any production models to be available anytime soon.
but the stand alone would be a real option
Home defense, no. But you could coyote hunt and quail hunt at the same time.
COD and BF4 in real life.
On a serious note, this would make an M4 so cumbersome, just like a 203. IMO, this just isn’t a realistic option for home defense.
seriously? not like you’re gonna be humping it up a freakin mountainside for home defense. It gives you the CQB option with minimal penetration into other rooms, but will still allow you to shoot the bastards a bit further out on your property.
