Winchester saddle ring carbine model 1866, aka ‘Yellow Boy’. According to the serial number, this one was manufactured in 1871, making it a third model. It has been converted to a .44 Brazillian Nagant Center fire. This cartridge is the same as .44 Henry CF, of which Winchester factory examples are found in the 140.000 range and later. According to the previous owner, this rifle was brought from Chile in the late sixties and early seventies and has been in his possession ever since. This example saw some hard use but is in reasonably good condition. Mechanics are still working perfectly; the wood is solid with traces of wear, missing a small piece at the toe of the buttstock. Rifling is still present. Metal has a pleasant brown patina with moderate pitting; the barrel address has worn off. Overall an excellent and affordable piece of history.
