Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer this affordable upland gun from AyA, one of Spain’s premier gunmakers well known the world over for making solid, well finished guns. This Yeoman, serial number 576421 was manufactured in 1983 and features AyA’s standard boxlock design. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance. AyA has been utilizing this classic action since 1960. The 28" barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in “BEST GUNS” from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland. The barrels are tight on the hinge and breech face, have mirror bores, tight swamp ribs that ring like bells, 99% blue, and are choked Light Mod and Improved Mod with 2 ¾” chambers, ideal for grouse and close country hunting, deadly to clays as well! The receiver retains 99% bone and charcoal case color, superb screws, and is in perfect mechanical condition with crisp double triggers and auto safety. The European Walnut has some figure, hand cut flat-top checkering and is fitted with a factory buttplate. Wood to metal fit is outstanding and exemplifies AyA’s dedication to true craftsmanship.
