With blued octagonal sighted barrel rifled with six grooves and stamped 'Colt's' Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. Hartford Ct. U.S.A.' above the patent dates along the top flat, the left top flat at the breech engraved '45-85-285.', tubular magazine beneath, blued action with Colt logo on the left side and folding peep-sight with knurled adjuster mounted on the upper tang, case-hardened hammer, varnished highly figured butt (varnish with some fine crazing) and chequered slider, blued integral trigger-guard, curved butt-plate turned russet, and retaining much of its original finish (some loss of finish in places)
