Jones told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wspa.com\/news\/deputies-investigate-shooting-at-anderson-home\/1566277144\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"mom-shoots-intruder\" title=\"WATCH: Mom Shoots Intruder Who Claims Her House Is 'My House'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WSPA<\/a> she heard banging on her front door and two people speaking on the porch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was like, \u2018this is my house, let me in. I\u2019m not going to hurt you\u2019 kind of thing, and I was like \u2018What do you want?&#8217;\u201d Jones said. \u201cAfter I called the police, I grabbed a gun and went to the top of the steps and was like, \u2018I have a gun. I will shoot you. Do not come in my house.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones said Parnell went around to her back door, but the lock prevented him from entering the house. The man returned to the front door and continued his attempts to force his way inside the home.<\/p>\n<p>At that point \u201csomething just came over me, and I got calm,\u201d Jones told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxcarolina.com\/investigations\/deputies-charge-man-who-was-shot-when-reportedly-trying-to\/article_51eefd22-ddf5-11e8-ad21-c3e50c8037e6.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"mom-shoots-intruder\" title=\"WATCH: Mom Shoots Intruder Who Claims Her House Is 'My House'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FOX Carolina<\/a>. \u201cMy heart slowed down and I got focused. I told myself if he comes in here, you can\u2019t let him get past your doorstep. You have three young children to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/hero-alabama-mcdonalds\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"mom-shoots-intruder\" title=\"WATCH: Mom Shoots Intruder Who Claims Her House Is 'My House'\">Father Hailed as Hero After Fatally Shooting Gunman at Alabama McDonald\u2019s<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Parnell eventually succeeded in kicking in the door, but quickly discovered Jones\u2019 threats weren\u2019t idle. Security footage shows Parnell being shot in the shoulder, and the man runs away\u2026 right into the hands of the police who had just arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Officials told Fox Carolina that Parnell was charged with burglary first degree and booked in the Anderson County Detention Center. His injuries are non-life-threatening. Sheriff Chad McBride praised Jones for her actions and said she won\u2019t face any charges.<\/p>\n<p>Jones told FOX that while she hoped she would never have to use her gun, she\u2019s glad she bought it, and she would have been willing to do even more to protect her kids. She also mentioned that she\u2019s received firearms training and taught her children to avoid her firearm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny mother is going to protect their kid any way they need to, so that\u2019s what I did,\u201d she said. \u201cI would\u2019ve killed him if I had to.
