Two Houston-area cable repairmen survived a gunfight with armed robbers this week, local media reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the quick-thinking and fast reflexes of one of the technicians, both men were able to walk away unscathed. The same could not be said for one of the assailants.<\/p>\n

The incident happened on Tuesday in north Houston while the men were making repairs on a cable box around midnight, according to WTVM<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The armed perps suddenly approached the workers.<\/p>\n

“It was just real quick. We were expecting the worst,” one of the technicians, who wished to remain anonymous, told the station.<\/p>\n

The robbers fired off the first shots but missed. It may have been a warning of sorts. A Do-what-we-say-or-else<\/em> type of deal.\u00a0 It’s not clear from the reporting.<\/p>\n

“As he shot off, I was already out of the way, because I was expecting to get shot at already,” he explained.<\/p>\n

The technician fell to the ground and started praying.<\/p>\n

“I went down to the ground and that’s when he put his knee on my back and hit me on my sides,” he continued. “I thought it was over. I was expecting to get shot anywhere in the back, or my head, really, the way he had me.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the technician\u2019s partner, a concealed carrier, was able to retrieve his own gun and return fire.<\/p>\n

“My partner was able to distract him in time,” he said.<\/p>\n

More shots where exchanged. And, as a result, one of the robbers was hit in the leg. Police said the 18-year-old, who has yet to be identified, fled the scene but eventually collapsed on the sidewalk. He was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in “critical but stable condition.”<\/p>\n

Investigators are looking for at least two more suspects. The getaway driver, who pulled off in a gray four-door sedan, and the other armed assailant.<\/p>\n
