Nightforce is pleased to announce that the Marine Corps selected their optics<\/a> for the updated Mk13 Mod 7 sniper system. The Nightforce MIL-SPEC ATACR 5-25×56 F1 will be issued to the Marine Corps Scout Snipers as they roll out the new shooting platform.<\/p>\n

“The increased capability of the newly issued Mk13 Mod 7 sniper rifle requires a scope that is as rugged, reliable, repeatable, and dependable as the United States Marines tasked with using it,” said Nightforce business development mangager Tod Litt. “The Nightforce MIL-SPEC ATACR 5-25×56 F1 was chosen as the day scope to take full advantage of the rifle systems’ competencies.”<\/p>\n

“The optic features a Horus Tremor3 reticle and provides operators with an integrated milliradian based grid that incorporates time-of-flight wind dots,” said Litt. “Those dots are calibrated to the rifle and ammunition and aid in making quick, formula-free wind calls by judging direction and wind speed in miles per hour. The advanced reticle incorporates the Accuracy 1st speed shooting formula that makes engagement of moving targets easier and reduces engagement times for a substantial improvement in first round hits.”<\/p>\n

The 5-to-25-power scope <\/a>brings plenty of magnification with it to match the range capabilities of the .300 Winchester Magnum cartridge the Mk13 Mod 7 is chambered for.<\/p>\n

“The new Mk13 Mod 7, .300 Winchester Magnum sniper system equipped with Nightforce MIL-SPEC ATACR 5-25×56 F1 riflescopes are ready to hit the fleet very soon,” added Litt.<\/p>\n

The updated Mod 7 version of the Mk13<\/a> is a very fine piece of kit. The rifle is built around a Stiller action and AICS chassis with a custom Lilja barrel. Nightforce is following in the footsteps of Schmidt & Bender, who provided the previous 5-25x scope with a Horus reticle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you’re interested in building a Mk13 Mod 7 clone all the components are available on the commercial market. Nightforce is pleased to offer the NightForce ATACR 5-25×56 F1 at a retail price of around $3,000. Nightforce produces the scope with a variety of reticle options including their MOAR, MIL-R, MIL-C and H59 reticles.<\/p>\n

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane division out of Crane, Indiana, is building the Mk13 Mod 7 rifles. The Marines have 356 of the rifles on order with $4.3 million earmarked for the purchase, putting the price per rifle at around $12,000.<\/p>\n
