It&#8217;s another pro-gun cartoon, humorously titled, &#8220;The Good Guy with a Gun: Total Myth I Swear&#8221; (see below).\u00a0 And it completely destroys the narrative propagated by anti-gunners that defensive gun uses (DGUs) are non-existent.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t believe that anti-gunners blatantly lie about the fact that good guys with guns save lives?\u00a0 Consider this 2017<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/new-yorker-video-the-ravaging-infection-of-american-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"the-good-guy-with-a-gun-total-myth-i-swear\" title=\"The Good Guy with a Gun: Total Myth I Swear\"> New Yorker piece<\/a> from longtime contributor Adam Gopnik.\u00a0 He says, with a straight face mind you, &#8220;Guns, however, have an almost entirely symbolic function. No lives are saved. No intruders are repelled.\u00a0 The dense and hysterical mythology of gun love has been refuted again and again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Refuted?\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 Hmmm&#8230;\u00a0 Nothing could be further from the truth!\u00a0 As the cartoon so cogently points out, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nap.edu\/read\/18319\/chapter\/3\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"the-good-guy-with-a-gun-total-myth-i-swear\" title=\"The Good Guy with a Gun: Total Myth I Swear\">2013\u00a0study<\/a> commissioned by the CDC and executed by The National Academies Institute of Medicine and National Research Council found that DGUs are a &#8220;common occurrence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million, in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008,&#8221; states the paper.<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/support-gun-control-you-child-hating-bigot\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"the-good-guy-with-a-gun-total-myth-i-swear\" title=\"The Good Guy with a Gun: Total Myth I Swear\" rel=\"bookmark\">FreedomTunes &#8211; Support Gun Control You Child Hating Bigot!!<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>To unpack\u00a0that, a government study commissioned by a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/suppressed-cdc-2-million-defensive-gun-uses-1998\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"the-good-guy-with-a-gun-total-myth-i-swear\" title=\"The Good Guy with a Gun: Total Myth I Swear\"> historically\u00a0pro-gun control agency<\/a> acknowledged that good guys with guns defend themselves, their families and their property at least as often as bad guys perpetrate crimes with guns!\u00a0 That&#8217;s not a refutation of DGUs, that is an emphatic validation!<\/p>\n<p>Gopnik&#8217;s notion that &#8220;no lives are saved&#8221; and &#8220;no intruders are repelled&#8221; is insanity!\u00a0 And coming from a decorated and widely-read journalist, no less, is tragic.\u00a0 People actually believe this guy!<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, and I mean this sincerely, we have FreedomToons to help set the record straight.\u00a0 Truth be told a lot of the work pro-gun media does to disseminate the facts and to educate the non-gun owning public gets overlooked or written off as &#8220;biased&#8221; or &#8220;preaching-to-the-choir&#8221;-style journalism.\u00a0 Which is why it&#8217;s so important to promote the work of outsiders when they get it right.\u00a0 Be it traditional media or nontraditional\u00a0media.\u00a0 Be it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/cnn-profiles-child-shooting-prodigy\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"the-good-guy-with-a-gun-total-myth-i-swear\" title=\"The Good Guy with a Gun: Total Myth I Swear\">CNN<\/a> or a cartoon channel on Youtube.\u00a0 So, please watch the video and share this article.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">***<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/BrowseSpecificCategory\/Parent\/Guns\/ViewAll.aspx\" campaign=\"PistolGABuy\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\">Buy a New Pistol on GunsAmerica<\/a>***<\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FreedomToons released another winner this week.
