A gun is only as good as the number of bullets you have on hand.\u00a0 Once you run out, you’re out.\u00a0 Which is why many of us also carry an edged weapon on our person.\u00a0 Not our primary fighting tool but it’s there in a pinch.<\/p>\n

For some, though, the ideal situation is to marry these two systems.\u00a0 To mount your blade on your gun.\u00a0 While this may have fallen out of fashion some time ago, maybe it’s starting to come back.\u00a0 At SHOT this year we got a chance to preview the Stinger<\/a>, a retractable bayonet spike purpose-built\u00a0for AR-pattern rifles.<\/p>\n

While many readers publicly bashed the Stinger in the comment section, I think privately many were at the very least intrigued.\u00a0 Well, I know that’s the case, tens of thousands of you read the article.<\/p>\n

Recently, I’ve come across another modern bayonet that has actually been around for a few years.\u00a0 The Mk1 Savage from Bluntforce<\/a>.\u00a0 I reached out to the company for details.\u00a0 Craig, over at Bluntforce, was kind enough to respond.<\/p>\n

“Inspired by the earlier spike or ‘pigsticker’ bayonets of the 18th century, we have updated the cruciform design to bring it into the 21st century, using 5-axis CNC machining and modern materials such as high carbon and high chromium AISI D2 tool steel, an extremely tough and durable hard wearing steel, all blades undergo our proprietary hardening and tempering techniques utilizing the latest technologies to bring about the maximum performance” explained Craig.<\/p>\n

“Blades are coated in either black DLC diamond-like carbon coating or a high polish chrome finish for added corrosion resistance,” he continued.\u00a0 “The industry standard mil-spec Picatinny rail mount allows it to be easily attached to a variety of firearms including rifles, shotguns and even pistols.”<\/p>\n

Before you start to laugh, get this.\u00a0 The MK1 Savage is sold out!\u00a0 That’s right. “Due to the extremely high demand we are currently sold out but hope to have more units in stock within the next few months,” said Craig.<\/p>\n

Price for the first gen version was around $250.\u00a0 But I think that the second gen that was released was more affordable at $99.<\/div>\n

The LaserLyte Pistol Bayonet has been around for several years.\u00a0 It features a full tang Ka-Bar blade.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
