Right when he was standing by the tree is when he fired. He shot real quick and then I shot back at them and he took off,\u201d Giovanni explains.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, Giovanni was right to believe that his house was the target of a robbery. Someone stole his trailer and his motorized quad bike late Monday night, and even though his cameras did not catch that theft, he believes the same individuals were behind it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t understand why they picked us, why they picked us to do it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the quad runner doesn\u2019t hold much significance, but he \u201cvalues and cherishes\u201d the trailer because his uncle gave it to him before he died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said I\u2019ll repair it unc if you just give it to me. And he went ahead and gave me the trailer,\u201d Giovanni said.<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/when-to-lawfully-kill-to-protect-property\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"watch-former-marine-uses-handgun-to-protect-home-property-from-robbers\" title=\"WATCH: Former Marine Uses Handgun to Protect Home, Property from Robbers\" rel=\"bookmark\">When to Lawfully Kill to Protect Property<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>St. Louis police weren\u2019t able to find an official report of the incident, but surveillance video shows a squad car arriving on the scene a few minutes after shots were fired.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/graphics.stltoday.com\/apps\/crime\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"watch-former-marine-uses-handgun-to-protect-home-property-from-robbers\" title=\"WATCH: Former Marine Uses Handgun to Protect Home, Property from Robbers\">St. Louis Crime Tracker<\/a>, property crime in Benton Park West, the St. Louis neighborhood where Giovanni lives, is up 8.25% since last year. That number could be even higher if police routinely fail to file reports on incidents like this one.<\/p>\n<p>Giovanni told local media he felt like his life was in danger, and that he would \u201cdo it again\u201d if he catches trespassers on his property in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to be able to protect our property and our homes,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople work too hard for things
