Eric Schneiderman resigned in disgrace this week from his position as New York Attorney General.<\/p>\n

The state’s top law-enforcement official has been accused of physically and mentally abusing women, reports the New Yorker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Schneiderman, a rabid anti-gunner, has made no bones about his disdain for people who wish to exercise their right to keep and bear arms.<\/p>\n

Makes sense, right?\u00a0 If you’re a bully and you like to slap women around, choke them,\u00a0call them your “brown slave,”<\/a> you sure as heck don’t want them to be armed.\u00a0 You want to do everything in your power to make sure they can’t fight back.<\/p>\n

Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the\u00a0Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, spoke about\u00a0Schneiderman’s history of trampling gun rights and self-defense in the Empire State.<\/p>\n

\u201cEric Schneiderman fought concealed carry reciprocity, calling it a \u2018public safety disaster in the making,\u2019\u201d said Gottlieb in a press release. \u201cBut one look at the allegations published by the New Yorker suggests his behind-closed-doors behavior is a safety issue to women he\u2019s dated. He went after toy guns to protect children, but who protected his girlfriends from him?<\/p>\n

\u201cHe pushed gun buybacks to prevent so-called \u2018gun violence,\u201d he added, \u201cbut what other kinds of violence are New Yorkers, especially women, vulnerable to when they are disarmed by the kinds of restrictive gun laws that he has supported? And, he even fought against stun guns, which many women carry for defense against physical violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Manhattan District Attorney is now investigating Schneiderman’s conduct.\u00a0 Hopefully, the point person for the probe isn’t one of Schneiderman’s cronies.\u00a0 We need someone to really go after this creep.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoms Demand Action endorsed Schneiderman\u2019s gun control efforts, but would they back him now,\u201d Gottlieb wondered. \u201cSchneiderman has been an outspoken advocate of women\u2019s rights when the cameras are on, except for the right to keep and bear arms. In private, according to the allegations, his behavior toward women has been less than sterling.<\/p>\n
