A Texas woman last week used a firearm to defend herself and her 17-year-old daughter from a shovel-wielding intruder.<\/p>\n

No, you likely won\u2019t be hearing about this on your nightly news telecast nor reading about it in the New York Times because it contradicts the lamestream media narrative that having a gun in the house doesn\u2019t make a woman safer<\/em>.<\/p>\n

You don’t believe that the media is that cynical about women and guns?\u00a0 Well, check out this 2014 article published in The Atlantic, titled, I kid you not, \u201cHaving a Gun in the House Doesn’t Make a Woman Safer<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

That Atlantic article should be titled, \u201cHaving a Domestic Abuser or a Drug Dealer or a Violent Felon in the House Doesn\u2019t Make a Woman Safer.\u201d Because those are people responsible for the violence.\u00a0 Those are the people who endanger women.\u00a0 It’s not the gun.\u00a0 It doesn’t just jump up on its own and fire away.\u00a0 But that\u2019s obvious. Right? Guns or no guns, it\u2019s not good to live with bad people. That should be the takeaway:\u00a0Women, if you cohabitate with a toxic scumbag \u2014 get out now!!! You\u2019re putting yourself at risk!\u00a0 He will hurt you whether it’s with a gun or a knife or a baseball bat or his fists!\u00a0 Get out now!\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Yet, that piece of common sense advice that would actually save lives doesn\u2019t fit the anti-gun agenda. Which is to disarm everyone. So, they shift the focus to the gun. Guns don\u2019t make women safer. Ergo, women should not live in households with guns. And if women shouldn\u2019t live in households with guns, no households should have guns.<\/p>\n

Explain that logic to Linda Williams of Limestone County, Texas. Williams is the woman I referenced at the beginning of the article. She is the one who used her handgun to fend off 47-year-old Allen Tompkins after he tried to break into her house last Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

“I went to the door and just kind of opened it and there was an older man standing at my front door with a shovel and he asked for a lady’s name and I said \u2018there’s no one here by that name I’m sorry, you’re at the wrong house, she doesn’t live here,\u2019\u201d Williams told KWTX<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tompkins walked away but didn\u2019t leave the premises. Williams then went to her bedroom and peered through the blinds to get a sense of the situation.<\/p>\n

“I looked out and he was standing at the opening of the woods with a shovel still in his hand and he kept looking back and looking, I said \u2018no this is not going to go down like this.\u2019”<\/p>\n

She woke up her daughter Hannah.<\/p>\n

\u201cI woke her up and I said \u2018go to my bedroom, get the dogs and let’s go\u2019 because that’s where we keep our guns in our house,\u201d she said. “No sooner did we get to the bedroom and shut the door, he was kicking in the front door and hitting it with the shovel.\u201d<\/p>\n

While her daughter was on the phone with 911, Williams grabbed her gun.<\/p>\n

The intruder. Identified as 47-year-old Allen Tompkins.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cI had time to grab the revolver and come out the door. So when he came in the shovel was up on his shoulder, he was headed straight towards us,\u201d she said. “I aimed it at him and said \u2018if you take one more step I’ll kill you.\u2019”<\/p>\n

Tompkins turned around and started to leave. Before exiting, he said, according to Williams, \u201cWell all y’all need to know is y’all need to leave me the F alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t even know you, get out of my house,\u201d replied Williams.<\/p>\n

“I went back into my bedroom, I locked the door and I watched him go into the woods with a shovel still in his hands while we were still on the phone with 911.”<\/p>\n

Authorities arrived 14 minutes later. Who knows what Tompkins would have done to Linda and Hannah had they not had that gun in the household. But, of course, that gun didn’t make them safer<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Tompkins was arrested. He was charged with burglary of a habitation, though more charges may be added.<\/p>\n

“My husband says I’m having nightmares calling Hannah’s name trying to make sure she’s safe. As much as I hate to say I killed somebody, I wished I would have so that I could sleep at night knowing that he’s not going to come back,\u201d said Williams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
