The only thing worse than an anti-gun politician is an anti-gun politician who runs as a pro-gun politician only to show his true colors after he’s been elected.<\/p>\n

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Republican Gov. Phil Scott of Vermont. As a candidate for governor, Scott convinced the good people of The Green Mountain State that he was a strong 2A supporter. But as it turns out, that was just for show, just to get elected.<\/p>\n

Phil’s real feelings on one’s right to keep and bear arms were on display Wednesday when he signed into law measures, part of\u00a0d\u00a0S.55<\/a>,\u00a0that take a big, fat bite out of the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n

Henceforth, private transfers will be unlawful, the purchase age for guns will be 21 (for most residents), bump stocks will be outlawed, certain magazines will be banned (10-plus round mags for long guns, 15-plus round mags for handguns) and police will have an easier time confiscating firearms from people thought to be a danger to themselves or others.<\/p>\n

“I understand I may lose support over the decision to sign these bills today, but those are consequences I am prepared to live with,” Scott said at the signing, according to the Burlington Free Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“But if we had not even tried to reduce the possibility of a tragedy here in Vermont like Parkland or Virginia Tech, Aurora, Las Vegas, Orlando, Sandy Hook, Dallas or Charleston,” Scott went on, “if we didn’t try to reduce suicide and the pain felt by the families left behind, or if we didn’t try to prevent another death from domestic violence and another child growing up without a mom \u2014 that would be hard to live with.”<\/p>\n

“That’s why today we choose action over inaction, doing something over doing nothing, knowing there will always be more work to do,” Scott said. “But today, we choose to try.”<\/p>\n

The pro-gunners in attendance did not let the first-term governor off easy.\u00a0 Through his speech, he was continuously heckled.\u00a0 Shouts of “traitor,” and “liar” were common.<\/p>\n

Scott said back<\/a> in February that he “evolved” on the issue, noting that after Parkland, “Where I was a week or two ago has changed completely.”<\/p>\n

The question is why the sudden, radical shift?\u00a0 Crazed idiots have shot up schools and other gun-free zones in the past (It’s why we need to harden them with good guys with guns, ones won’t run and hide when there is an attack<\/em>).\u00a0 What was that different about Parkland?\u00a0 I mean, aside from the fact that the authorities — local police and the feds — had overwhelming evidence that the kid was coo-coo and did absolutely nothing about it.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Scott touched on why he “evolved.”<\/p>\n

“I thought, as the safest state in the nation, Vermont was immune to this type of violence. As I’ve said many times throughout my political life, public safety is the top priority of any government,” Scott. “It’s a responsibility I take very seriously as governor.”<\/p>\n

Right.\u00a0 Because the safety of the public is maximized when the government subarms\u00a0or disarms it.\u00a0 People are more safe when they are less free to defend themselves.\u00a0 Leave it up to Big Brother to keep you safe.\u00a0 After all, it did such a good job stopping the Parkland shooter…<\/p>\n
