Tom Suozzi (D-Long Island) asked a crowd at a town hall event last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really a matter of putting public pressure on the president,\u201d Suozzi said in a video on March 12. \u201cThis is where the Second Amendment comes in, quite frankly, because you know, what if the president was to ignore the courts? What would you do? What would we do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apparently confused, one of his under-educated constituents shouted, \u201cWhat\u2019s the Second Amendment?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Suozzi said, \u201cThe Second Amendment is the right to bear arms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When confronted about the intent of the remark, a spokesperson for Suozzi told <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2018\/03\/19\/congressman-suggests-second-amendment-as-means-of-opposing-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"democratic-congressman-armed-insurrection-trump\" title=\"Democratic Congressman Talks Armed Insurrection Against Trump\">The New York Post<\/a> that the lefty lawmaker wasn\u2019t \u201cadvocating for an armed insurrection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, the Suozzi adviser didn\u2019t totally back down from the statement either, including in the reply a portion of a Thomas Jefferson quote that suggests armed citizens need to check government every now and then. You know the one,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.madisonbrigade.com\/t_jefferson.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"democratic-congressman-armed-insurrection-trump\" title=\"Democratic Congressman Talks Armed Insurrection Against Trump\"><em> the tree of liberty<\/em><\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms,\u201d the quote read.<\/p>\n<p>GOP leadership did not find it all that amusing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis video is incredibly disturbing. It\u2019s surreal to watch a sitting member of Congress suggest that his constituents should take up arms against the president of the United States,\u201d said National Republican Campaign Committee spokesman Chris Martin.<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/donald-trump-put-hit-hillary-clinton\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"democratic-congressman-armed-insurrection-trump\" title=\"Democratic Congressman Talks Armed Insurrection Against Trump\"> Did Donald Trump Put a Hit out on Hillary Clinton?<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>I find it funny if for no other reason than\u00a0Suozzi and his ilk in the House and Senate (Pelosi, Schumer, Feinstein) have spent much of their political careers trying to disarm the masses.\u00a0 No one needs an &#8220;AR-15&#8221; or &#8220;a weapon of war&#8221; or &#8220;high-capacity clipozines.&#8221;\u00a0 Right?\u00a0 How many times have they uttered that nonsense over the years?<\/p>\n<p>No one needs one&#8230; until it fits their leftist agenda.\u00a0 Then, suddenly, every soy boy from Berkeley to Boston needs one!!! But as Suozzi found out at that town hall, years and years of indoctrination\u00a0that\u00a0guns are evil,\u00a0Big Brother will protect you and that the 2A exists solely to guarantee the rights of hunters\u00a0has rendered their\u00a0base impotent\u00a0and\u00a0dumb.<\/p>\n<p>Trump isn&#8217;t a tyrant.\u00a0 But even if he was, it wouldn&#8217;t be a bunch of armed liberals (gosh, that sounds like an oxymoron) taking out the trash.\u00a0 That&#8217;s for sure.\u00a0 Those dogs won&#8217;t hunt.
