{"id":89396,"date":"2018-03-13T15:15:59","date_gmt":"2018-03-13T19:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=89396"},"modified":"2018-03-13T15:15:59","modified_gmt":"2023-08-30T18:07:09","slug":"female-bail-agent-fatally-shoots-client","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/female-bail-agent-fatally-shoots-client\/","title":{"rendered":"Female Bail Agent Fatally Shoots Client in Front of Her Son: &#8216;Mom You Just Shot Him&#8217;!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Oklahoma woman was acquitted of first-degree murder Friday in the fatal shooting of her client.<\/p>\n<p>Bail agent\u00a0Chasity Dawn Carey shot and killed 38-year-old Brandon James Williams while attempting to take him into custody last August.\u00a0 The incident was caught on camera.\u00a0 See video below.\u00a0 Viewer discretion is advised.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i6gE0iMZ1WU?rel=0\" width=\"854\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Carey, 42, claimed she did so in self-defense.\u00a0\u201cI was afraid he was going to shoot my son,\u201d Carey told the Payne County jury, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/newsok.com\/article\/5586555\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"female-bail-agent-fatally-shoots-client\" title=\"Female Bail Agent Fatally Shoots Client in Front of Her Son: 'Mom You Just Shot Him'!\">The Oklahoman<\/a>. \u201cI felt like we were going to be killed. \u2026 I&#8217;ve never been that scared before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom, you just shot him,\u201d says her 19-year-old son right after the shot was fired according to the video.\u00a0 &#8220;I did,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/video-mother-daughter-shootout-thug\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"female-bail-agent-fatally-shoots-client\" title=\"Female Bail Agent Fatally Shoots Client in Front of Her Son: 'Mom You Just Shot Him'!\">\u00a0INSANE Surveillance Video Shows Mother, Daughter in Shootout W\/ Shotgun-Wielding Thug<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Carey initially told the police that there was a struggle for the gun she used in the shooting.\u00a0 Upon viewing the video, investigators arrested her because it doesn&#8217;t appear as if there was a fight for the firearm.<\/p>\n<p>However, in court, Carey&#8217;s defense attorney said that the tape doesn&#8217;t tell the whole story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What&#8217;s not on the video is your reasonable doubt,&#8221; said attorney Jarrod Stevenson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe video only showed half of the shooting,&#8221; Stevenson told reporters after the verdict. &#8220;It didn&#8217;t show what Mr. Williams was doing and I think that&#8217;s what the jury really focused on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors tried to focus on the fact that Carey shot\u00a0Williams, an accused burglar, in the back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s never OK to shoot someone in the back. \u2026 Where&#8217;s the danger?
