Following Sandy Hook, Dick\u2019s stopped selling ARs in its big box stores. However, sales of those rifles continued at its outdoor specialty chain, Field &amp; Stream. But rifles of any make or model are used in less than<a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/entry\/assault-weapons-deaths_us_5763109de4b015db1bc8c123\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"dicks-sell-ars-high-cap-mags\" title=\"BREAKING: Dick\u2019s Will No Longer Sell ARs, High-Cap Mags\"> four percent of all gun-related violence<\/a>. It\u2019s a free country. Dick\u2019s can enact whatever policy it wants. And suppose the individual bought the pistol at Dick\u2019s. Then, Dick\u2019s \u2014 by its definition \u2014 would be \u201cpart of the next mass shooting\u201d or complicit in the murder of those people. Does it then ban the sale of handguns, too?<\/p>\n<p>Scapegoating inanimate objects for the violence perpetrated by crazed murderers is an intellectually dishonest approach to curbing mass killings that creates a slippery slope.
