No longer are women going to be silent about the abuse they suffered. Offenders will be outed. Publicly shamed. And, hopefully, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.<\/p>\n<p>This is good.\u00a0 Dirtbags need to face the fire and be held accountable for their crimes.\u00a0 But if there is a problem with the #MeToo movement is that it works retroactively.\u00a0 After the fact.\u00a0 There is no plan of action for women who face violence in the moment.<\/p>\n<p>Rape survivor\u00a0Savannah Lindquist believes that should change.\u00a0 She would like gun ownership to be a part of the #MeToo discussion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think the #MeToo movement and the movement for women&#8217;s right to self defense or really anyone&#8217;s right to self defense, they sort of go hand-in-hand,&#8221; Lindquist told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circa.com\/story\/2018\/02\/05\/nation\/this-rape-victim-says-the-metoo-movement-should-include-gun-rights\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"metoo-gun-ownership-rape-survivor\" title=\"Women of the #MeToo Movement Should Consider Gun Ownership Says Rape Survivor\">Circa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s frustrating, but it sometimes feels like when you&#8217;re pro-Second Amendment that your story doesn&#8217;t matter as much,&#8221; she continued.<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/daughters-and-mothers-participate-in-six-sold-out-ccw-classes\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"metoo-gun-ownership-rape-survivor\" title=\"Women of the #MeToo Movement Should Consider Gun Ownership Says Rape Survivor\">Daughters and Mothers Participate in Six Sold Out Women-Only CCW Classes<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Lindquist, who was raped while attending Temple University in Philadelphia, said that no one should be forced to carry a gun but it should be an option for those women interested in exercising their 2A rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Regardless of the reason why, I think it&#8217;s important that we have that choice because it seems like right now the #MeToo movement is all about just having women&#8217;s autonomy and being able to make these decisions and say, &#8216;This is what happened to me, but I&#8217;m gonna get through this, and I&#8217;m strong, and I know who I am,&#8217; and that sort of understanding, but it seems sort of like it&#8217;s stopping there, that everyone is like &#8230; The award show that was a few nights ago, we saw people wearing the Time&#8217;s Up pins. It&#8217;s like, &#8216;Okay, well that&#8217;s great, but what are you doing?&#8217; You&#8217;re not doing anything to actually fix the problem, and that&#8217;s sort of what I&#8217;m trying to do here,&#8221; Lindquist explained.<\/p>\n<p>Makes sense.\u00a0 As the best way to avoid violence is being fully prepared to confront it.
