SIG Sauer is announcing their newest handgun for everyday carry, the P365. It’s a polymer-framed, striker-fired subcompact chambered for 9mm Luger. Unlike a lot of handguns in this class, they built it from the ground up — it’s not another grip-chopped service pistol.<\/p>\n

The new “micro-compact” P365<\/a> is all about capacity. Unlike many single-stack pistols in its size and weight range, it offers 10+1 rounds of ammunition and that’s with flush magazines. With extended magazines the gun provides an even better 12+1-round capacity.<\/p>\n

SIG pulled this off by using double-stack magazines with an extra-long taper. This makes the magazines wide at the bottom and narrow at the top — high-capacity in the grip and skinny under the slide and controls.<\/p>\n

“As a company, we are relentless in our quest to be better — to constantly improve upon our existing products and to design and build superior products than those currently on the market,” said CEO Ron Cohen in the product announcement. “The P365 is a pistol for professionals and civilians alike who want a smaller, high-performance pistol that does it all. This is the ultimate, everyday concealed-carry pistol.”<\/p>\n

All around the P365 measures in at less than 6 inches long, 4.3 inches tall and 1 inch wide. It weighs less than 18 ounces unloaded, including the magazine. The pistol has a 3.1-inch barrel and is rated for +P ammunition.<\/p>\n

With flush magazines the gun has a two-and-a-half-finger grip, give or take, depending on hand size. SIG ships the P365 with an extended floorplate for a fuller grip and with extended magazines the gun should be comfortable to shoot for just about everyone.<\/p>\n

That means that with the P365 shooters can choose what they want most out of their everyday carry gun — concealability or added capacity.<\/p>\n

Like the P320 and P250, the P365 features a modular chassis. It uses a slimmer sub-frame for the edge in concealability and isn’t interchangeable with the other guns but it does have a replaceable polymer grip.<\/p>\n

The standard grip has textured panels all around, a deeply undercut trigger guard and a special accessory rail. Instead of a Picatinny or even “old-style” SIG rail the P365 has two horizontal slots molded into the frame.<\/p>\n

Users will be able to install lights and lasers onto their guns by clamping them into the slots. SIG plans to offer these accessories down the line along with grip frames with integral laser modules. Every pistol also comes standard with factory night sights.<\/p>\n

Rounding things out SIG worked with Blackpoint Tactical to develop a series of holsters for the P365 available at launch. SIG is also working on a P365 air pistol for training and backyard plinking and even a suppressor system that’s sure to raise eyebrows.<\/p>\n

This gun fits a niche that SIG’s other handguns don’t. It’s not a modified service pistol, cut-down for concealed-carry. It’s made from scratch to be an everyday-carry gun for anyone looking for one gun for every time and place.<\/p>\n

The P365 is priced at $599 which is in-line with base model P320 pistols. Expect real-world pricing to start at around $500. Magazines are priced around and under $50 and holsters $80.<\/p>\n
