Eagles\u2019 quarterback Carson Wentz may be out of the playoffs with an injury, but that didn\u2019t stop the PETAphiles on Twitter from attacking Wentz for posting a photo in support of bird hunting.<\/p>\n

The NFL standout tweeted a happy birthday message to his hunting dog, Mama Henly, along with a picture of the dog standing over approximately 20 dead Canada geese.<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy 5th<\/sup> Birthday to Mama Henley!\u201d the post reads. \u201cWe\u2019ve been through a lot in 5 years. Best dog and hunting buddy I could ask for!\u201d<\/p>\n

That, of course, was enough to bring Wentz\u2019s anti-hunting fans out of the woodwork. The quarterback chose the most reasonable of his critics and replied with tact and conviction.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarson, congratulations on the Birthday of Mama Henley,\u201d his fan wrote. \u201cAs a friend I wanted to quickly highlight that a man in your influential position might cause offence through the posting of your first picture. I support its sentiment however the context and content of the pic could offend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAppreciate that, but offensive and controversial?\u201d Wentz responded. \u201cTwo of the main things I tweet about are Jesus and hunting. That\u2019s what I\u2019m passionate about and that won\u2019t ever change! When you love something, you talk about it! Stay convicted about it and don\u2019t worry what others think!\u201d<\/p>\n\"NFL<\/a>\n

While Steve Beef (ironic name, no?) kept his reply respectful, others failed to show the same restraint.<\/p>\n

George Altemeyer has clearly never been hunting, and also doesn\u2019t seem to be familiar with meat freezers.<\/p>\n\"NFL<\/a>\n

Joey Carter was also very worried about what Wentz planned to do with \u201call those dead geese.\u201d<\/p>\n\"NFL<\/a>\n

Mary Jo Tegethoff, knowing Wentz\u2019s penchant for quoting the Bible, tried a different tack. Unlike Wentz, however, she both misquoted and misinterpreted the Sixth Commandment (Exodus 20:13).<\/p>\n\"NFL<\/a>\n

Bryan didn\u2019t even try.<\/p>\n\"NFL<\/a>\n

And Joseph Catalano even suggested that Wentz\u2019s injury was the result of bad karma.<\/p>\n\"NFL<\/a>\n

The majority of replies to Wentz\u2019s original tweet were positive, many of which included pictures of hunting dogs or successful hunts. But his smattering of critics are good for a laugh, and you can find more of them here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
