Glock is kicking off the New Year with a bang! Meet the all-new\u00a0G19X, a new pistol that’s a hybrid of their Model 19 and 17 handguns. The pistol is based on their military trials submission MHS pistol.<\/p>\n

A polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol chambered for 9mm Luger, the G19X combines the compact slide of the G19 with the full-size frame of the Glock 17. It comes with one flush 17-round magazine and two extended magazines with +2 baseplates. The 19X was designed as an all-purpose sidearm for soldiers and will do just as well for civilians.<\/p>\n

“The G19X was developed for the military and is a practical everyday pistol that will do what you need it to do, when you need it to; every time, in every condition,” said Josh Dorsey, Glock vice president. “Through rigorous testing, the G19X stands out above the competition and has the ability to function in all situations with ultimate reliability and accuracy.<\/p>\n

“Our goal was to meet the demanding needs of the military while maintaining our standard of perfection,” he said. “With proven results, the G19X delivers maximum efficiency and trustworthiness.”<\/p>\n

Glock is calling the G19X its first ever “Crossover” pistol. Another first for Glock is that the G19X comes with a factory coyote frame and finish — not a dealer-exclusive paint job.<\/p>\n

Glock tweaked the military design to make it a little more appealing to the consumer market. Unlike the MHS model the commercial version does not have a manual thumb safety. These aren’t very popular with striker-fired handguns, a trend Glock started in the first place.<\/p>\n

A lot of features and extras separates the 19X from the rest of Glock’s product line. The 19X is accurized with a match-grade barrel and ruggedized with a hard diamond-like carbon finish on the slide and barrel.<\/p>\n

Glock calls it their Marksman barrel with polygonal rifling and a target crown. Polygonal rifling provides a better gas seal around bullets as they pass through the barrel and they deform projectiles less. This helps improve muzzle velocities and accuracy in general.<\/p>\n

Both the frame and slide are coyote tan while the internal parts and controls are standard black. The controls are ambidextrous with dual slide release levers and a reversible magazine release button.<\/p>\n

Apart from the improved finish and internals the Glock 19X also features an updated frame. The frame doesn’t have fingergrooves which can be awkward for some shooters and it uses an interchangeable backstrap system to accommodate a wide variety of hand sizes.<\/p>\n

The 19X features an enlarged and flared magazine well and the frame also sports an integral lanyard loop. All this boxed up in a matching coyote carrying case at with a suggested price of $749.<\/p>\n
