Ruger’s adding a pile of new guns<\/a> to their line-up at the end of this year leading up to 2018. A lot of these guns are real charmers and would make great gifts this holiday season.<\/p>\n

Two of Ruger’s new guns are additions to the Redhawk family. These updated guns have sleeved barrels which, when done right, can really improve accuracy while keeping costs low. The guns include two 8-shot .357 Magnums, one with a 4.2-inch barrel and the other with a 5.5-inch barrel.<\/p>\n

Both large-frame revolvers weigh well over 2.5 pounds even with half-length underlugs making them steady shooters with the hottest of full-house loads. While these guns will do in a pinch for self-defense they’re ideal for target shooting, hunting and other sports.<\/p>\n

They have a brushed stainless finish and a set of adjustable rear sights and a black ramp front sight. With a suggested retail price of $1,079, real-world pricing will be closer to $800.<\/p>\n

The next new Ruger is a real personal protector. Ruger’s added a 6-shot .327 Federal Magnum SP101 with a 3-inch barrel to their catalog. In this configuration the revolver is capable of delivering real magnum performance, not just noise and recoil, in a light and portable package.<\/p>\n

Ruger is single-handedly bringing .327 Mag. back to the forefront of revolver cartridges. Smaller and lighter than .357 Mag., .327 is capable of similar muzzle energy with less recoil and blast. Designed for small-frame revolvers, .327 Mag. also offers an edge in capacity — standard SP101 handguns are 5-shot.<\/p>\n

The new SP101 also has a standard brushed stainless finish and simple, snag-free U-notch sights. At 27 ounces unloaded, it’s an ideal magnum revolver for concealed-carry. It’s priced competitively at $749, with street prices closer to $600.<\/p>\n

Next up is a trio of new GP100 revolvers, all .357s, all with an improved 7-shot capacity. These full-size handguns build on the proven and durable GP series but come with an extra shot just in case.<\/p>\n

All three models sport a similar set of features and come with your choice of 2.5-, 4.2- or 6-inch barrel. All three have stainless finishes and fiber-optic front sights with adjustable rears. With MSRPs at $899 expect to see them listed around $750.<\/p>\n

It’s not just handguns, Ruger’s also adding a bunch of updated rifles to the catalog, too. The company has a set of plinkers as well as a pair of hard-hitting single-shots for the new year.<\/p>\n

The company has two new 10\/22s, a simple starter with a 3-9x scope and a higher-end competition gun with a tensioned, alloy-sleeved barrel.<\/p>\n

The starter rifle comes with factory-mounted Weaver scope and a full-size carry case. It also has standard tangent backup iron sights and an 18-inch barrel. It’s priced at $399 so it won’t be surprising to see it retail for under $300.<\/p>\n

The other new 10\/22 is fancier. It comes with a laminate thumbhole stock and improved BX Trigger. The user-adjustable trigger has a 2.5- to 3-pound pull for target shooting. It has a compact 16-inch barrel that’s also threaded for use with suppressors and other muzzle devices.<\/p>\n

Ruger’s new Target Lite is an optics-ready model, meaning it doesn’t come with a scope or sights. Buyers will have to keep that in mind when shopping, but really, that just passes some savings onto the customer. People looking to pick up an accurized 10\/22 probably have an optic in mind.<\/p>\n

Priced at $649 the Target Lite is a little steep for a 10\/22 but way cheaper than any custom 10\/22 target rifle. It’s cheaper than some aftermarket tensioned barrels and they don’t even come with the rest of the gun.<\/p>\n

Rounding things out are Ruger’s new Number 1 rifles in new chamberings. Ruger is adding a Number 1 in .308 Winchester and another in .450 Marlin. The .308 is an obvious choice while the .450 is a niche choice that will make some people very happy.<\/p>\n

The Number 1 is a modern falling-block single-shot rifle designed to handle big game loads. The .450 Marlin is up there, suitable for all North American big game. The new Number 1 rifles start at $1,699.<\/p>\n
