Two would-be burglars got more than they bargained for when they attempted to rob a cell phone store in Dayton, Ohio, earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video shows two suspects attempting to break into Fix or Cell Now, a store owned by Dayton resident Adam Seaton.<\/p>\n

The thieves break the store\u2019s window with a brick and attempt to bypass the security gate.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Seaton arrives, and the robbers take off running. The proprietor was right around the corner when he received an alert on his cell phone that the security alarm had gone off.<\/p>\n

“Typically robberies at the store are done in 20 to 45 minutes, but I happened to be in the right place at the right time,” Seaton told WHIOTV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But when he arrived, Seaton says the suspects did more than just run away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI zoom over here,\u201d Seaton told WDTN<\/a>. \u201cAnd I get greeted with gunfire and people coming out of the store. It\u2019s crazy. I\u2019m still shook up about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seaton had an AK-47 in his vehicle, which he used to repel the gunfire.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took my AK and started firing back,\u201d Seaton said. \u201cAnd they ran out behind the building and I continued to pursue the getaway vehicle I had the Dayton Police on the line.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShots fired,\u201d Seaton says in the 911 recording. \u201c619 Watervaliet. (Sound of honking). I\u2019m chasing them. They just broke into the store. They are in a silver truck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seaton told WHIOTV he believes one of his bullets hit a suspect, but he cannot be sure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey started firing back at me from the vehicle,\u201d Seaton said. \u201cIt got kinda dangerous so I just let them go.\u201d<\/p>\n

To those who would say that a few cell phones don\u2019t justify Seaton\u2019s actions, the business owner explained that those cell phones represent his livelihood.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how I pay my employees,\u201d Seaton said. \u201cThat\u2019s how I put food on my table.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is the fourth time Seaton\u2019s store has been broken into since he opened in December, but he told WDTN he doesn\u2019t believe the thieves got away with anything this time.<\/p>\n

Still, he\u2019s calling for tougher punishment to deter thieves from targeting his store.<\/p>\n

\u201cGive these guys [robbery suspects] punishment. They\u2019re just stealing them [cell phones] and the courts just let them out the next day,\u201d Seaton said.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s not the police it\u2019s the justice system. The police arrest them and the courts just let them out the next day.”<\/p>\n
