Guess who\u2019s back? It\u2019s your favorite senator from California! Lady Dianne Feinstein! And boy does she have some more goodies in store for you!<\/p>\n

For the umpteenth time, Sen. Feinstein has introduced sweeping gun control legislation that takes specific aim at commonly owned and widely popular firearms and accessories.<\/p>\n

Dubbed the \u201cAssault Weapons Ban of 2017,\u201d the bill seeks to ban black rifles, magazines that hold over 10 rounds, and bump stocks, among other provisions. You can see the bullet points below.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re introducing an updated Assault Weapons Ban for one reason: so that after every mass shooting with a military-style assault weapon, the American people will know that a tool to reduce these massacres is sitting in the Senate, ready for debate and a vote,\u201d said Feinstein Wednesday in a press release.<\/a><\/p>\n

The move comes on the heels of a mass killing in Sutherland Springs, TX, that left 26 dead. Not addressed in Feinstein\u2019s statement is the fact that the perpetrator of the shooting was stopped by local resident Stephen Willeford, who was armed with \u2014 get this \u2014 his own AR-pattern rifle.<\/p>\n

In a Monday interview on CRTV\u2019s \u201cLouder With Crowder,\u201d<\/a> Willeford spoke candidly about the confrontation that indubitably saved lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I had run out of the house with a pistol and faced a bulletproof vest and kevlar and helmets, it might have been futile,\u201d Willeford said. \u201cI ran out with an AR-15 and that\u2019s what he was shooting the place up with.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI hate to politicize that, but that\u2019s reality,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Feinstein\u2019s bill is a publicity stunt, not a meaningful way to stop mass killers. The California Democrat wants to be seen as gun control\u2019s white knight for the moonbats who are dumb enough to believe that making it harder for citizens to defend themselves will somehow make the country a safer place.<\/p>\n

Below are the bullet points of this sad attempt to grab headlines.<\/p>\n

Key provisions<\/h2>\n
    \n
  • Bans the sale, manufacture, <\/em>transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name. Owners may keep existing weapons.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Bans any assault weapon that accepts a detachable ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock. Owners may keep existing weapons.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Bans magazines and other ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, which allow shooters to quickly fire many rounds without needing to reload. Owners may keep existing magazines.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Exemptions to bill<\/h2>\n
      \n
    • The bill exempts by name more than 2,200 guns for hunting, household defense or recreational purposes.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • The bill includes a grandfather clause that exempts all weapons lawfully possessed at the date of enactment.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Other provisions:<\/h2>\n
        \n
      • Requires a background check on any future sale, trade or gifting of an assault weapon covered by the bill.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • Requires that grandfathered assault weapons are stored using a secure gun storage or safety device like a trigger lock.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • Prohibits the transfer of high-capacity ammunition magazines.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • Bans bump-fire stocks and other devices that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire at fully automatic rates.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The bill is also supported by the following Senators: Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Al Franken (D-Minn.), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.).<\/p>\n
