A tragedy like the one in Las Vegas is viewed by Dems in Washington as nothing more than an opportunity. An opportunity to take a swing at the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n

You shouldn\u2019t be surprised by this. It\u2019s the same old song and dance.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve already seen Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) introduce the \u201cAutomatic Gun Fire Prevention Act<\/a>,\u201d legislation to ban bump stocks and trigger cranks.<\/p>\n

Even though Feinstein freely admitted in a CBS interview<\/a> that no law would\u2019ve stopped the gunman because \u201cHe passed background checks registering for handguns and other weapons on multiple occasions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now we\u2019re seeing other gun control legislation pop up in both Houses, including bills to ban online ammo sales and \u201chigh-capacity\u201d magazines and a bill to require FFLs to report gun buyers to authorities if they purchase more than two rifles in a five-day period.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is simply no good reason why sportsmen and women need more than ten rounds in a magazine,\u201d said<\/a> Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (D-CT). \u201cNo sportsman or woman needs thirty rounds to kill a deer. It\u2019s shameful that we protect our deer better than we protect our people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Esty\u2019s bill is ironically titled, \u201cKeep Americans Safe Act<\/a>.\u201d Right. Because you will be safer when you have fewer rounds to defend yourself. Love that logic. Love how Esty believes the 2A is about deer hunting.<\/p>\n

“The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act<\/a> is one step in the right direction to slowing the proliferation of guns and ammunition,” said<\/a>\u00a0Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), pitching her bill to end Internet ammo sales.<\/p>\n

“Americans did not send us to Washington to mourn them when it is our job to do everything we can as federal legislators to protect them,” Coleman added.<\/p>\n

Again, Coleman wants to protect us by making it harder for us to purchase ammunition.\u00a0 Are we seeing a trend here? It’s doublethink! The government is telling us: You are more safe when you are less free to defend yourself.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Then there’s the\u00a0Multiple Firearm Sales Reporting Modernization Act<\/a>.\u00a0 Utter insanity.\u00a0 It would require gun dealers to report the sale of two or more long guns within a five-day period.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis bill is a long-overdue update,\u201d said Congresswoman Norma Torres (D-CA). \u201cOur law enforcement agencies need to know if anyone is stocking up on AR-15s and AK-47s.<\/p>\n

“The multiple sales reporting provision that is already on the books has helped our law enforcement go after handgun trafficking rings across the country,” she continued. “There is simply no reason why we should exempt semi-automatic rifles from that provision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Great. Let’s expand a policy that creates a database of gun purchasers.\u00a0 No issues there, right?\u00a0 We want the government looking over our shoulder, tracking what we buy and when we buy it. I mean, how else is it going to know where all the guns are when it comes time disarm America?<\/p>\n

Our GOP-controlled Congress hopefully has enough sense to shoot down these bills one by one.\u00a0 They’ve done so in previous years with similar legislation restricting mags and prohibiting ammo sales.\u00a0 We’ll have to wait and see though.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
