(<em>Photo: NBC Meet the Pre<\/em>s<em>s<\/em>)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>House Majority Whip Steve Scalise\u2019s belief in the Second Amendment is unwavering.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview Sunday with Chuck Todd from NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d the Louisiana Republican explained that although he was critically wounded back in June by a gunman who attacked the GOP baseball team during a practice in Virginia, he does not believe gun control is the answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Founding Fathers believed strongly in gun rights for citizens,&#8221; said Scalise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon&#8217;t try to put new laws in place that don&#8217;t fix these problems,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;They only make it harder for law-abiding citizens to own a gun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Todd then asked the congressman whether the Second Amendment was an \u201cunlimited\u201d right, to which Scalise responded, \u201cIt is, it is.\u201d\u00a0 Though he later acknowledged that there are laws on the books limiting 2A rights.<\/p>\n<p>Scalise went on to address the issue of bump stocks, the accessory that was reportedly used in the tragic attack in Las Vegas last Sunday, saying that Congress should step aside and let the ATF re-evaluate whether the bump stock should be the subject of additional regulations.<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/look-buying-can-going-quiet-sigs-srd9\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"house-majority-whip-steve-scalise-2a-unlimited-right\" title=\"House Majority Whip Steve Scalise: 2A is \u2018Unlimited\u2019 Right\">What to Look for When Buying a Can: Going Quiet with SIG\u2019s SRD9<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cMinority Leader Nancy Pelosi already said she wants it to be a slippery slope,\u201d he said. \u201cShe doesn&#8217;t want to stop at bump stocks. They want to go out and limit the rights of gun owners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA week ago\u2026 most people didn&#8217;t know what a bump stock was,\u201d he added. \u201cSo to think that we&#8217;re now all experts and know how to write some &#8230; panacea law \u2014 it&#8217;s fallacy. Let&#8217;s focus on the facts. Let&#8217;s get the facts and let&#8217;s go focus on some of the problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To circle back to the question of whether the Second Amendment is unlimited, it\u2019s not.
