When a terrorist rammed a 19-metric-ton cargo truck into a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France, in July of 2016, killing 86 people and wounding 458 others, the reaction from the Left wasn\u2019t to point fingers at the automotive industry.<\/p>\n

Instead, ire was directed at the driver, identified as Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel and the terrorist group ISIL that claimed to be behind the attack. That\u2019s only logical. A truck on its own isn\u2019t going to plow into a throng of people. It takes a crazed lunatic to get behind the wheel and carry out the attack.<\/p>\n

But when a madman with a gun shoots at a crowd of people, the Left immediately takes a kick-the-dog approach and blames the National Rifle Association (I’ll admit that not all Lefties are anti-gun, but enough are to warrant the generalization).<\/p>\n

Keith Olbermann, for example, slammed the nation\u2019s gun lobby in a clip for GQ\u2019s \u201cThe Resistance.<\/a>\u201d The progressive pundit claimed that the Second Amendment has been\u00a0misinterpreted in recent years and is the reason why the NRA \u201cis not branded for what it is \u2014 a terrorist organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Olbermann, the 2A was drafted by our founders and framers \u201cto keep the federal government from taking away the right of each state to maintain its own militia.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words, it\u2019s not an individual right unconnected to militia service as the Supreme Court ruled in the landmark 2008 Heller<\/em><\/a> decision.<\/p>\n

Olbermann went on to say that our right to keep and bear arms has been transmogrified \u201cinto an excuse for why madmen of whatever heritage or political purpose cannot be stopped from carrying at least 10 long rifles into a hotel room in Las Vegas and setting up a sniper\u2019s nest and killing people.”<\/p>\n

Olbermann’s fooling himself if he thinks confiscating guns will stop mass killings.\u00a0\u00a0Taking guns off the street is not the same as taking mass killers off the street.<\/p>\n

When all the guns are gone violence doesn’t end.\u00a0 The killings don’t stop as long as the killers are still out there.\u00a0 That’s the lesson of Nice.\u00a0 It doesn’t matter what laws a nation passes. Whether it’s with a long gun, a semi truck or a pressure-cooker bomb, a determined killer will try to find a way to take innocent lives.<\/p>\n

Yet Olbermann doesn’t see it this way.\u00a0 He wants to destroy the one right that gives the common man a fighting chance against those that would do him harm and the one organization that does more than any other to preserve that right.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is time to end the lies about the Second Amendment. It is time to end refusing to call mass murderers who do not have obvious political motives terrorists,\u201d said Olbermann.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is time to end the National Rifle Association. And it is time to end the political career of any political figure who made his way to the White House dog-whistling to his Second Amendment people,” he continued.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
