Their design input was simple and concise: &#8216;In terms of fighting functionality, materials, and overall design &#8211; produce the highest-performance axe regardless of cost.&#8217; Mission accomplished.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hoback explained that the design is one-third tomahawk, one-third crash axe, and one-third ultra-light axe.<\/p>\n<p>Machined from S7 tool steel,\u00a0 it features skeletonized cutouts that reduce the weight to a not-so-heavy 18 ounces.\u00a0 The result is a tool that is heavy enough for extreme use but light enough for on-the-go situations.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_79786\" style=\"width: 269px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pol_axe2_large.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"wicked-looking-crash-axe\" title=\"What a Wicked Looking Crash Axe from PROOF Research\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-79786\" title=\"What a Wicked Looking Crash Axe from PROOF Research\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-79786\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pol_axe2_large-259x300.png\" alt=\"What a Wicked Looking Crash Axe from PROOF Research\" width=\"259\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pol_axe2_large-259x300.png 259w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pol_axe2_large-130x150.png 130w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pol_axe2_large.png 415w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-79786\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">What are your thoughts?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The scales are made from aerospace-grade carbon fiber and are affixed to an ergonomically designed handle that promises to leave the user with no hot spots, no blisters, no pain during extended use.<\/p>\n<p>And maybe the coolest part of all is that there&#8217;s a two-tier grind on the axe, a stouter edge on the top half for hard use and a finer one on the bottom half for precision cutting.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a medieval multi-tool!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our customers fit into one or both of two niches,&#8221; said Derek McDonald, Chief Marketing Officer for PROOF Research, &#8220;those whose profession requires the absolute highest performance, and those who demand the very best and are willing to make that investment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The PROOF of Life axe is a fit for both of those customers and also happens to be a very nice collectible for die-hard fans of both Jake Hoback Knives and PROOF Research,&#8221;
