Team Trump added an anti-gun advocate to its ranks, Friday.<\/p>\n

Anthony Scaramucci, the founder of SkyBridge Capital, was appointed to serve as communications director.<\/p>\n

The New York financier has made several public comments on social media over the years about his support for tougher gun laws.<\/p>\n

In the wake of the mass killing at Sandy Hook elementary school, in 2012,\u00a0Scaramucci tweeted<\/a> that he has \u201calways been for strong gun control laws.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also implied in another tweet<\/a> that owning a firearm may give the \u201cillusion of security, but more likely to cause you harm.\u201d<\/p>\n

But it doesn’t stop there, he has also tweeted<\/a> that when it comes to firearms “it is just common sense [to] apply more controls.” \u00a0And in 2016<\/a>, he tweeted “killings went down\u201d when \u201cguns were taken from people who put their fellow citizens at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

The addition of\u00a0Scaramucci, who was also a Fox News contributor, caused some turmoil at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. \u00a0The decision did not sit well with White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.<\/p>\n

In fact, Spicer resigned as a result of the move, telling the president that bringing Scaramucci on board was a “major mistake,” according to a report by The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Spicer didn’t really say what his beef with\u00a0Scaramucci was, and Scaramucci claimed that there was no friction between the two men.<\/p>\n

Replacing Spicer as press secretary will be\u00a0Sarah Huckabee Sanders. \u00a0She’ll work with\u00a0Scaramucci moving forward.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the change-up was celebrated by pro-gun control organization Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.<\/p>\n

“Scaramucci\u2019s comments underscore recent national polling data: Gun violence prevention is not a partisan issue. A vast majority of Americans \u2013 including gun owners, NRA members and Republicans \u2013 overwhelmingly support common-sense gun laws,” said Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action.<\/p>\n

“While NRA leaders may have a seat at the table in Trump\u2019s White House, there are millions of Americans standing on the side of gun safety, possibly including the new White House Communications Director.<\/p>\n

“It’s time for the entire White House and current administration to join us in speaking out against gun violence and eradicate the gun lobby\u2019s \u2018guns everywhere, for anyone\u2019 agenda,” she continued.<\/p>\n
