Ashbury Precision Ordnance<\/a> is now offering a lightweight, modern Remington Model 700<\/a> built on their accurized Saber chassis that taps the AR market for extra features and improved modularity. The new rifle, the Saber M700 MRCS-AR, is available exclusively through Cabela’s<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This solidly performing, rugged, range-ready rifle is easily configured and accessorized to meet the many needs of recreational shooters, hunters and entry level precision rifle competitors,” said Ashbury product developer Matthew Peterson.<\/p>\n

The rifles feature new-production Remington 700 barreled actions chambered for both .308 Winchester and in 6.5 Creedmoor. Other chamberings may be in the works as well. “We are also very excited about the prospects for APO’s long action, minimalist, Tactical Hunter variants of the Saber M700 chambered in 30-06 Springfield<\/a>, .300 Winchester Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum,” added Peterson.<\/p>\n

Ashbury’s Saber chassis<\/a> free-floats the barrel and adds an adjustable folding stock and pistol grip. The chassis itself is alloy aluminum with polymer composite components. The .308 model has a 20-inch barrel while the 6.5 Creedmoor’s barrel is longer at 22 inches.<\/p>\n

The rifles use Remington’s SPS Tactical AAC-SD barreled actions with black phosphate finishes. The chassis have a MIL-A-8625 hard-anodized finish. The actions come paired with a user-adjustable Remington X-Mark Pro trigger, factory set to 3.5 pounds.<\/p>\n

Drawing from today’s tactical rifle market the M700 MRCS-AR uses MIL-SPEC 6-position tube extension for AR-pattern stocks. Dual locking lugs ensure a solid platform and a tight and repeatable cheek weld. The chassis also use AR-pattern pistol grips and modular M-Lok forends.<\/p>\n

The pistol grips are also adjustable for cant and length of pull. The stocks, pistol grips and included 5-round magazines are by Magpul. The CTR buttstocks come with cheek risers for proper use with a riflescope<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The handguards sport M-Lok slots at the 3-, 6-, 9- and 12-o’clock positions. They also feature a singular swivel stud for a forward bipod mount. The handguards are nearly full-length, stopping a couple of inches short of the barrel threads. Both models have 5\/8-24 threads for muzzle devices and suppressors.<\/p>\n

With the stocks folded the rifles measure in at around 30 inches long give or take depending on barrel length. At 9.5 before accessories, the Saber M700 MRCS-AR is light enough to be portable without being too light to shoot comfortably.<\/p>\n

The actions require no bedding, and that reduces the cost of production. In either configuration the rifles run $1,799, which is competitive with other guns like the Ruger American Rifle. At this price, the MRCS-AR is a compelling option for shooters looking for a less expensive alternative to custom rifles without losing custom features or custom performance.<\/p>\n

With the right glass and the right shooter these rifles will shine. The rifles are 100 percent made in the U.S. Cabela’s will have the MRCS-AR in stores nationwide and online through their website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
