This refreshed guide ranks the pocket holsters our writers have used and recommended. Many of these holsters have been around for years, which is a good sign in a category where cheap pouches come and go. We tell you what each one does best, what to watch for, and what it cost when our writers covered it. Those prices are dated, so check current listings.

Buyer’s Guide: How To Choose The Best Pocket Holsters In 2026

A pocket holster has a few simple jobs. Here is what our writers say matters most.

Cover The Trigger Completely

The first job of any pocket holster is to cover the trigger guard so nothing else in the pocket can reach it. That matters most with small striker fired and single action pistols, which have lighter triggers than a double action revolver. Never carry a gun in a pocket without a holster, and never put anything else in the same pocket.

Stay In The Pocket On The Draw

A pocket holster must stay behind when you draw. Leather and synthetic holsters use tacky outer surfaces, while many Kydex and leather designs use a hook that catches the pocket edge. Our original writer found the Don Hume’s hook the most pronounced, and the Galco adds a second hook at the top. Practice your draw until the holster stays put every time.

Break Up The Outline

A good pocket holster makes the gun look like a wallet or phone. Wide leather panels like the Recluse Two-Sided hide the outline best, and the Crossbreed Pocket Rocket was designed to look like a wallet in a back pocket. Thin Kydex protects the trigger but may show more of the gun’s shape.

Material And Fit

Leather is quiet and comfortable and breaks in over time. Kydex never folds over and does not wear out, though our writer found it let sweat reach the gun and cause rust. Soft synthetic holsters are cheap and comfortable but can slump. Fit matters too; buy a holster sized for your exact gun when possible.

Pocket, Pants, And Gun Choice

Pocket carry works best with small revolvers and micro pistols, and with pants that have deep, roomy front pockets. Wear a sturdy belt to carry the weight. For more holster options beyond pocket carry, see our best concealed carry holsters.

Best Pocket Holsters Ranked: 2026 Product Roundup

DeSantis Nemesis: Best Overall Pocket Holster (2026)

The DeSantis Nemesis is the best overall pocket holster because it does every job well at a low price. Our original writer carried one sized for a J-frame revolver. The inside is pack cloth that protects the gun and allows a smooth draw, and the outside is a tacky material that sticks to the inside of your pocket.

It is stiff at first but conforms to your gun and pocket over time. It looks large at first glance, but that size is what keeps the gun upright and easy to grab. Our writer found it excels in cargo pockets and winter coat pockets with flaps. It retailed for around $25 in 2017 when our writer covered it.

Key Specs

- Material: Pack cloth interior, tacky synthetic exterior

- Retention: Friction, tacky exterior

- Fits: Many small revolvers and pistols (tested with J-frame)

- Price: about $25 at the time of review

Pros

- Inexpensive

- Smooth draw

- Conforms over time

- Great in cargo and coat pockets

Cons

- Stiff at first

- Bulky in tight pants

Galco Front Pocket Horsehide: Best Leather Pocket Holster (2026)

The Galco Front Pocket Horsehide is the best leather pocket holster because its stiff horsehide will likely outlast you. It leaves just enough room to wrap a couple of fingers around the grip before the draw.

Besides the usual pocket hook at the bottom, it adds a smaller hook at the top that catches the top of the pocket and helps strip the holster off the gun. Our writer found it works well in most pockets. It retailed for $65.95 in 2017 when our writer covered it.

Key Specs

- Material: Horsehide leather

- Retention: Bottom and top pocket hooks

- Fits: Small handguns

- Price: $65.95 at the time of review

Pros

- Very durable horsehide

- Two hooks for a clean draw

- Works in most pockets

Cons

- Costs more than synthetics

- Leather needs break in

Armored Carry Pocket Holster: Best Kydex Pocket Holster (2026)

The Armored Carry pocket holster is the best Kydex pocket holster because its molded hooks make the holster fall away on the draw and it never wears out. Armored Carry used to be called Double Tap Holsters. Our writer carried one every day for his Springfield XD-S for more than a year and called it the best pocket holster on the market.

Read our full Armored Carry deep concealment holster review here.

Both sides have a hook, so it snags the edge of a pocket or bag and pulls free for fast draws. Molded Kydex never folds over the way leather pouches can. It was $25 at the time of review, and the company’s trigger guard shield was $10. Our earlier Double Tap testing found the downside: with no leather, sweat can rust exposed parts of the gun.

Key Specs

- Material: Molded Kydex

- Retention: Hooks on both sides

- Fits: Custom molded for many pocket pistols

- Price: $25 at the time of review

Pros

- Fast, consistent draw

- Never folds or wears out

- Covers the trigger completely

- Inexpensive

Cons

- Does not hide the gun’s outline

- Sweat can rust the gun

- Holster can fly out on a fast draw

Recluse Two-Sided: Best Pocket Holster For Hiding The Outline (2026)

The Recluse Two-Sided is the best pocket holster for hiding your gun’s outline because it puts leather panels on both sides of the gun. Its patented urethane trigger block locks the gun in place, and you slip your fingers between gun and holster to pop it free, so the holster stays in your pocket by design.

Read our full NextGen pocket holster roundup here.

Our NextGen roundup found it very high quality, and the design does not collect lint like a pouch. Re-holstering means taking the holster out and resetting the gun. It was $59.99 in 2012, with horsehide available, and our 2017 writer listed it at about $60. He found the bulge significant in tight pants and best in jackets and looser pants.

Key Specs

- Material: Leather (horsehide optional)

- Retention: Urethane trigger block

- Fits: Many micro pistols and revolvers

- Price: $59.99 at the time of review (2012); about $60 in 2017

Pros

- Hides the outline completely

- Stays in the pocket

- Does not collect lint

Cons

- Re-holstering requires removal

- Bulky in tight pants

- Costs more than most

Don Hume Pocket 001: Best Pocket Holster For J-Frames (2026)

The Don Hume Pocket 001 is the best pocket holster for J-frame revolvers because its pronounced hook and stiff leather keep it in the pocket on the draw. Our original writer found its hook the most pronounced of the group, and it works for right or left hand carry.

It breaks in a little over time, but the stiff leather keeps a J-frame secure. He called it a versatile all around pocket holster that works in jeans, dress pants, shorts, and jacket pockets. Pricing varied by style when our writer covered it.

Key Specs

- Material: Stiff leather

- Retention: Pronounced pocket hook

- Fits: J-frame revolvers and small guns

- Price: varies by style

Pros

- Very effective hook

- Ambidextrous

- Works in many pockets

Cons

- Leather needs break in

- No price listed in our coverage

DeSantis SuperFly: Best Pocket Holster For Small Revolvers (2026)

The DeSantis SuperFly earns a spot because one of our writers uses it for daily pocket carry. In his 2024 article on lessons learned toting pocket pistols, he carried a Kel-Tec P32 that disappeared in his pocket and rode comfortably in a SuperFly, and he called it an excellent pocket holster.

Read our full pocket pistol lessons learned article here.

He went on to carry a small revolver and noted that a revolver’s shape suits pocket carry, because the cylinder pushes the gun outward and makes it easier to get a firing grip. Our article does not detail the holster’s construction or price, so check current listings. For small revolvers, see our best .32 Magnum revolvers.

Key Specs

- Use: Daily pocket carry (Kel-Tec P32 in our writer’s use)

- Retention: Friction

- Price: not listed in our coverage

Pros

- Comfortable for all day carry

- Recommended by a daily pocket carrier

Cons

- Few details in our coverage

Sticky Holsters: Best Universal Pocket Holster (2026)

Sticky Holsters are the best universal pocket holster because their rubberized, tacky exterior grips the inside of a pocket and holds the gun upright. Our reviewer, a self described holster snob, liked the pocket sizes best of all for carrying a micro .380 in dress pants.

Read our full Sticky Holsters review here.

They also work tucked inside the waistband. The only movement he saw came from sweat between the holster and skin. They were $24.95 for every size at the time of review, and Sticky also makes revolver, ankle, and magazine versions.

Key Specs

- Material: Tacky rubberized exterior

- Retention: Friction

- Fits: Pocket and compact sizes, revolvers too

- Price: $24.95 for all sizes at the time of review

- Very versatile

- Inexpensive

Cons

- Sweat can cause shifting

Crossbreed Pocket Rocket: Best Wallet Style Pocket Holster (2026)

The Crossbreed Pocket Rocket is the best wallet style pocket holster because it rivets a Kydex trigger guard shell to a leather backer. In a back pocket it looks like a wallet, and in a front pocket the leather shields the gun from sweat. It covered the trigger guard completely, came in left or right hand versions for many .380 pocket pistols, and started at $32.95 in 2012, per our NextGen roundup linked above.

To draw, you pull the gun out with your fingers while pushing down on the leather lip with your thumb. Our writer had not yet carried it long when he wrote the roundup, so treat this as a first look.

Key Specs

- Material: Kydex shell riveted to leather

- Retention: Kydex clip, leather lip

- Fits: Many .380 pocket pistols

- Price: from $32.95 at the time of review (2012)

Pros

- Looks like a wallet

- Leather shields gun from sweat

- Covers the trigger

Cons

- First look only

- Two handed technique to draw

Uncle Mike’s Inside the Pocket: Best Budget Pocket Holster (2026)

The Uncle Mike’s Inside the Pocket holster is the best budget pocket holster at $10 to $15 in 2017 when our writer covered it. It is the softest and most conforming of the group, wrapping around whatever gun you carry, and it does especially well with a J-frame revolver.

A fabric grabbing band keeps it in the pocket on the draw. Its pointed corners round off quickly as it forms to your pocket. Our writer found it best in roomy jeans or other cotton pants with taller, narrower pockets.

Key Specs

- Material: Soft synthetic

- Retention: Fabric grabbing band

- Fits: Small revolvers and pistols

- Price: $10 to $15 at the time of review

Pros

- Very inexpensive

- Comfortable

- Stays in the pocket

Cons

- Soft material can slump

Final Thoughts On The Best Pocket Holsters Of 2026

The best pocket holster for most people is the DeSantis Nemesis, which is cheap, smooth, and tacky enough to stay put. The Galco horsehide is the leather choice, the Armored Carry is the Kydex workhorse, and the Recluse hides your gun’s outline best. The Don Hume is great for J-frames, the DeSantis SuperFly is a daily carrier’s pick, Sticky Holsters are the universal option, the Crossbreed looks like a wallet, and Uncle Mike’s is the bargain.

Key Specs

-

- Material: Horsehide leather

- Retention: Bottom and top pocket hooks

- Fits: Small handguns

- Price: $65.95 at the time of review

-

- Very durable horsehide

- Two hooks for a clean draw

- Works in most pockets

Cons

-

Key Specs

-

- Material: Molded Kydex

- Retention: Hooks on both sides

- Fits: Custom molded for many pocket pistols

- Price: $25 at the time of review

Pros

-

- Fast, consistent draw

- Never folds or wears out

- Covers the trigger completely

- Inexpensive

Cons

-

Key Specs

-

- Material: Leather (horsehide optional)

- Retention: Urethane trigger block

- Fits: Many micro pistols and revolvers

- Price: $59.99 at the time of review (2012); about $60 in 2017

- Hides the outline completely

- Stays in the pocket

- Does not collect lint

- Re-holstering requires removal

- Bulky in tight pants

- Costs more than most

The Don Hume Pocket 001 is the best pocket holster for J-frame revolvers because its pronounced hook and stiff leather keep it in the pocket on the draw. Our original writer found its hook the most pronounced of the group, and it works for right or left hand carry.

It breaks in a little over time, but the stiff leather keeps a J-frame secure. He called it a versatile all around pocket holster that works in jeans, dress pants, shorts, and jacket pockets. Pricing varied by style when our writer covered it.

Key Specs

Key Specs

-

- Material: Kydex shell riveted to leather

- Retention: Kydex clip, leather lip

- Fits: Many .380 pocket pistols

- Price: from $32.95 at the time of review (2012)

Pros

-

- Looks like a wallet

- Leather shields gun from sweat

- Covers the trigger

Cons

-

- First look only

- Two handed technique to draw

The Uncle Mike’s Inside the Pocket holster is the best budget pocket holster at $10 to $15 in 2017 when our writer covered it. It is the softest and most conforming of the group, wrapping around whatever gun you carry, and it does especially well with a J-frame revolver.

A fabric grabbing band keeps it in the pocket on the draw. Its pointed corners round off quickly as it forms to your pocket. Our writer found it best in roomy jeans or other cotton pants with taller, narrower pockets.

Key Specs

-

- Material: Soft synthetic

- Retention: Fabric grabbing band

- Fits: Small revolvers and pistols

- Price: $10 to $15 at the time of review

Pros

-

- Very inexpensive

- Comfortable

- Stays in the pocket

Cons

-

- Soft material can slump

- Best in narrow pockets

The best pocket holster for most people is the DeSantis Nemesis, which is cheap, smooth, and tacky enough to stay put. The Galco horsehide is the leather choice, the Armored Carry is the Kydex workhorse, and the Recluse hides your gun’s outline best. The Don Hume is great for J-frames, the DeSantis SuperFly is a daily carrier’s pick, Sticky Holsters are the universal option, the Crossbreed looks like a wallet, and Uncle Mike’s is the bargain.
