The standard RONI is intended for law enforcement use as it converts a pistol into a short-barreled rifle. However, CAA has now developed the new <a href=\"https:\/\/usa.caagearup.com\/roni-stabilizer-stab\" campaign=\"YOUR CAMPAIGN NAME\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\">STAB-RONI<\/a> for civilian use without having to file National Firearms Act (NFA) paperwork. The key is that what used to be the stock is now an arm brace. STAB stands for Stabilizer Brace.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted, and a warning is included in the box, that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) has approved the arm brace as an arm brace, not as a makeshift stock. Shouldering the arm brace is illegal. Kits are available for most models of Berettas, CZ-75s and their clones (like the Jericho\/Baby Desert Eagle), Glocks, H&amp;Ks, Springfield XDs and the Bersa Thunder. Shown with Glock 19 9mm installed.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Installation<\/h2>\n<p>The RONI kit is designed to open up like a clamshell in order to insert your pistol. A separate polymer charging handle is designed to go over the rear of the slide at the rear using the slide serrations and rear sight to firmly hold it for manual operation. Two ambidextrous charging handle tabs extend from the side for ease of use. The slide lock and magazine release remain within easy reach for standard operation. There is also an ambidextrous paddle that blocks the trigger and acts as a safety. It can be pushed down out of the way for access to the trigger with the trigger finger of either hand.<\/p>\n<p>At the top of the RONI Kit there are nine inches of Picatinny rail which can easily accommodate back up iron sights as well as a red dot optic and a magnifier if desired. At the front of the RONI Kit at the sides and bottom there are additional rails measuring two inches in length, plenty for accommodating extras like lights and lasers. Please note that as this is still legally a handgun you cannot add a forward vertical grip.<\/p>\n<p>The front of the kit includes a metal end cap barrel shroud and muzzle brake\/flash hider. There is also a finger groove notch at the front underside of the kit to help ensure hands stay behind the muzzle. Note also that there is a fair amount of space internally above the slide so with AR style sights the line of sight is 3.5 inches above the muzzle. I found that a single point sling attached to the rear point made the pistol very easy to carry and place into use quickly. On the right side of the kit there is a large ejection port to ensure reliable operation. The arm brace itself is narrow and unobtrusive and does not add a lot of bulk to the kit. It is made from a hard rubber that is very sturdy and includes a Velcro strap to attach it to the arm.<\/p>\n<p>Attaching the brace to the arm can be done in one of two ways. First, the arm can be placed through the middle of the brace and then secured using the strap. Alternatively, and the method I found to be more comfortable, faster and just as steady, is to place the arm on one side or the other of the brace and use the strap to secure it.<\/p>\n<h2>Hands On<\/h2>\n<p>Installing the kit took about 10 minutes the first time I did it and five minutes the second time. It was very straightforward and simple and does not require any pistol disassembly. Simply remove the locking pins, pull out the front and rear locking assemblies, and open the clamshell kit by rotating down.<\/p>\n<p>Next, place the charging handle firmly on the rear of the slide of your pistol and insert the pistol. As the barrel shroud makes contact with the front of the pistol it is adjustable to accommodate for length between the compact Glock 19 and full-size Glock 17. Once the clamshell is closed up simply push the front and rear and caps back in and secure them with the locking pins. The ability to easily add optics also increases the shooters\u2019 accuracy. The kit alone, before you add optics, gun, ammo, or sling, weighs just over three pounds and measures a full 22 inches in length.<\/p>\n<p>For testing, I mounted an EO Tech Holosight and 3X magnifier as well as back-up folding Iron sights from Samson Manufacturing. I also added a Surefire G2X Pro Tactical flashlight with a max 320 lumens to the left side of the kit with easy rear pushbutton activation. Anyone looking for a bit of extra firepower can also opt for the ProMag 32 round magazine.
