{"id":69602,"date":"2017-02-02T05:59:20","date_gmt":"2017-02-02T10:59:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=69602"},"modified":"2017-02-02T05:59:20","modified_gmt":"2023-08-20T17:40:30","slug":"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\/","title":{"rendered":"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Under Armour got caught in a lie, and now they\u2019re reaping the consequences.<\/p>\n<p>The company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-canada-bear-underarmour-idUSKCN10U1MV\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">claimed<\/a> to support hunters and the hunting lifestyle, but at the first sign of trouble they abandoned their new clientele and stopped sponsoring the spokeswoman for their new women\u2019s hunting line.<\/p>\n<p>Now the company is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-01-31\/under-armor-crashes-triple-whammy-earnings-miss-outlook-cut-cfo-out\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">tanking<\/a>, and some financial experts have even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/story\/13974906\/1\/the-time-for-under-armour-to-sell-itself-for-about-18-billion-may-be-now.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">called<\/a> for the company\u2019s owners to sell to another buyer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If Under Armour wants to put itself into play, given the company&#8217;s share price situation and his stake, Kevin Plank would have to want to throw in the towel,&#8221; Growth Seeker co-manager Chris Versace told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/story\/13974906\/1\/the-time-for-under-armour-to-sell-itself-for-about-18-billion-may-be-now.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">TheStreet.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It all started last year when a video went viral of well-known hunter Josh Bowmar killing a bear with a spear. The kill was clean, humane, and legal, but over 4,000 people signed a petition asking Under Armour to end its relationship with Josh\u2019s wife Sarah, who had recently inked a deal with Under Armour to be the face of their new women\u2019s hunting line.<\/p>\n<p>Under Armour caved, prompting a swift and immediate reaction from hunters nationwide. Over 9,000 people signed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/under-armour-bring-back-the-bowmar-s-demand-under-armour-to-quit-cowering-to-anti-hunters\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">a petition<\/a> calling for Under Armour to bring Sarah back to the team (which it didn\u2019t). Bowhunting.com posted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bowhunting.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/19\/armour-fails-support-sponsored-hunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">several videos<\/a> of high-profile hunters condemning Under Armour\u2019s move, and one video even depicts a hunter burning his Under Armour gear.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the sports apparel company has struggled to maintain sales.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-01-31\/under-armor-crashes-triple-whammy-earnings-miss-outlook-cut-cfo-out\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">ZeroHedge.com<\/a> reported this week that Under Armour has failed in three main indicators of company success. The company missed on both its top and bottom lines, its sales projections are nearly $1 billion lower than analysts predicted, and its CFO Chip Molloy has left the company \u201cfor personal reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each of these factors has contributed to a near 30 percent drop in shares and the smallest annual gain since the company went public in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Under Armour\u2019s betrayal of hunters isn\u2019t the only cause of the company\u2019s collapse. But it can\u2019t be a coincidence that the company has struggled more than ever after it chose to appease extreme animal rights groups rather than its clientele.<\/p>\n<p>There are nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalmedia.fws.gov\/utils\/getfile\/collection\/document\/id\/860\/filename\/861\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">14 million hunters<\/a> in the United States. According to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/about-peta\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armour-rejects-hunters-immediately-tanks\" title=\"Under Armour Stock Drops Following Rejection of Hunters\">website<\/a>, PETA can only boast 5 million members.
