Heller<\/em>. In this 5-4 decision, the Court ruled that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms that is not connected to service in a militia or other military organization.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton has repeatedly criticized the Heller decision, even going to far as to say <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/mattvespa\/2015\/10\/02\/clinton-supreme-court-is-wrong-on-the-second-amendment-n2059865\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"clinton-refuses-acknowledge-2a-individual-right\" title=\"Clinton Refuses to Acknowledge 2A is Individual Right\">the Supreme Court was \u201cwrong\u201d on the Second Amendment.<\/a> She failed to articulate her position so clearly in this interview, perhaps in an effort to move towards the center in preparation for the upcoming general election.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_58585\" style=\"width: 409px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/kate-winslet-in-insurgent.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"clinton-refuses-acknowledge-2a-individual-right\" title=\"Clinton Refuses to Acknowledge 2A is Individual Right\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58585\" title=\"Clinton Refuses to Acknowledge 2A is Individual Right\" class=\"wp-image-58585 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/kate-winslet-in-insurgent.jpg\" alt=\"kate-winslet-in-insurgent\" width=\"399\" height=\"272\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/kate-winslet-in-insurgent.jpg 399w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/kate-winslet-in-insurgent-150x102.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-58585\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kate Winslet who plays the villainous Jeanine Matthews in the Divergent series. Something familiar about that collar&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Instead, she emphasized that the Second Amendment leaves room for the regulation of firearms, attempting to move the interview back to her gun control platform. I\u2019ve discussed her platform in detail <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/how-hillary-clinton-will-actually-take-your-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"clinton-refuses-acknowledge-2a-individual-right\" title=\"Clinton Refuses to Acknowledge 2A is Individual Right\">here<\/a>, but suffice it to say that the majority of her proposals are either duplicative (the laws she proposes already exist) or simply ignorant (the gun industry does not enjoy special legal protection, for example).<\/p>\n<p>But Stephanopoulos wasn\u2019t going to let her off the hook so easily. He repeated his question, to which she responded with a repetition of her point about \u201creasonable regulations\u201d: \u201cIf it is a constitutional right, then it, like every other constitutional right, is subject to reasonable regulations, and what people have done with that decision is to take it as far as they possibly can and reject what has been our history from the very beginning of the republic, where some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20030115\/the-racist-history-of-handgun-bans-in-a\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"clinton-refuses-acknowledge-2a-individual-right\" title=\"Clinton Refuses to Acknowledge 2A is Individual Right\">earliest laws<\/a> that were passed were about firearms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clinton\u2019s line of reasoning is unclear. As Stephanopoulos himself acknowledged, the Court in Heller maintained that the Second Amendment leaves room for the regulation of firearms.
