These orange boxes are on the shelf at certain gun friendly Wal-Mart stores. The only one we have tested so far is this model marked 9mm-.30-06 caliber, implying that it handles
\nboth handgun and rifle rounds. But as you can see it doesn’t handle rifle rounds at all. \t\t <\/em><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Maybe it is just a fluke when the top flies off of the first one on the 4th round from a .308 at 100 yards. <\/em><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

But on the second one the top flew off on the first round. Note that on neither of these was the top piece shot at or hit. <\/em><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The Do-All-Outdoors website now lists this target at 9mm only, but it is still listed as being able to handle .30-06 on Amazon, and of course on the boxes being sold to unwitting Wal-Mart customers. <\/em><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

We don’t usually have a lot of negative reviews here at GunsAmerica Magazine. There is no point in them generally. The exception is when a product is something you will stumble on most likely, and it is really bad. This is just a heads up about the swinging targets currently in the gun isle at the Wal-Marts that sell guns and have a big gun section. We bought the targets you see here in Okeechobee, Florida Wal-Mart, but none of the south Florida stores even have them.\n<\/p>\n

\nWith all the new gun nuts out there shooting steel instead of paper, Wal-Mart apparently wants a piece of the action and decided to sell
\n us yet more Chinese junk. Some time ago we put in a request to “Do-All-Outdoors” to review some of their swinging and self healing range targets, and we got no reply.
\n They had been advertising in the industry print rags trying to get dealers, and at some point they scored Wal-Mart as a retailer.
\n After a dismal experience with Winchester branded .22LR swinging targets from Wal-Mart, we decided to give a few of their targets a try, and they are really bad.\n<\/p>\n

\nIf it was only one maybe you could argue we got a bad one, but we bought three of these swinging targets and shot into two of them. The first one broke in half on the forth round of .308 Winchester at 100 yards. The second one broke in the same place on the first round using the same load. The Amazon reviewers claim that even a .223 shatters these targets. They are certainly not rated for rifle caliber rounds at all.\n<\/p>\n

\nTake a look at the targets page of their website. The swinging targets that you see here, the ones that broke, are advertised on the box as covering from 9mm to .30-06, but on the website they are listed as 9mm only. They are still being sold at Wal-Mart with no warnings whatsoever that they cannot handle rifle caliber rounds, but indeed they can’t. The link from the Do-All-Outdoors website to Amazon to buy them also still lists this model as 9mm-30-06, open to unwitting purchasers.\n<\/p>\n

\nThis is just a heads up to our GunsAmerica subscribers. The box does claim that Do-All-Outdoors has a lifetime warranty on these products, but you apparently have to fill out a PDF on their website in order to get a refund. They will have to
\n refund every one of these, and they are still for sale at Wal-Mart, Amazon, and all over the web. If you bought one of these and haven’t shot it yet, return it. If you broke it, you can call Do-All-Outdoors at 866-SHOT-DOC or email at customerservice@doalloutdoors.com.\n <\/p>\n

\n There are plenty of companies online selling steel targets from Action Target<\/a> and smaller companies that will tell you the steel rating of the target itself. Don’t buy targets for rifle rounds unless you get this information up front.
\n No steel targets are cheap, including these defective ones from Do-All-Outdoors. Stick to US made steel targets from a company you can trus and at least you’ll get targets that can be used, and that will last. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
