Cabot Guns is known for making show-stopping 1911s. Really, they\u2019re the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of the 1911 universe. No one has tighter tolerances, better materials or a higher level of craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

Now, Cabot Guns is taking its talents to the blade industry with their launch of Sandrin Knives<\/a> \u2014 a line of blades made from Tungsten Carbide, a material that no other knife maker has used nor ever attempted to use as a blade material.<\/p>\n

\"Lovely

Lovely blades, but a bit difficult to photograph with that mirror satin finish.<\/p><\/div>\n

Sandrin Knives are neither steel nor ceramic and are fashioned from a unique and patented blend of powders from Sandvik and a special process to eliminate brittleness. These knives have a whopping hardness of HRC 71, thus making them \u2014 at least according to Cabot \u2014 the hardest and most durable knife blades on the market.<\/p>\n

Given the $1,000-plus price tag, these are more for collectors than average users. One could argue that they are novelty knives, especially when one thinks about the colorful stabilized wood handles, the special box with its own hand-made screwdriver, and the certificate of authenticity that comes with the purchase of a knife.<\/p>\n

I believe there are four different models they are offering.<\/p><\/div>\n

These precious blades with their surgical slicing ability will be available in limited quantities, i.e. no more than 30 in one batch and each knife will have its own serial number to commemorate its uniqueness.<\/p>\n

These would be excellent for hunting. Carving up a carcass would be a cinch.<\/p><\/div>\n

Up close and in person Sandrin Knives are impressive. Tough to photograph because of the mirror finish on the blades, but very impressive.
