Has he had a change of heart on his millions of pro-2A users?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s no secret: top execs at Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/01\/30\/technology\/facebook-gun-sales-ban.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"facebook-engineer-fights-employers-anti-gun-anti-conservative-bias-inside\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\">do not like guns<\/a>, and they\u2019re more than happy to enforce the President\u2019s vision of a disarmed America by any extra-legal means necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, things got even worse. Gizmodo reported that Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s ire extends beyond guns, describing in a lengthy article how former Facebook \u201cnews curators\u201d routinely suppressed <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/former-facebook-workers-we-routinely-suppressed-conser-1775461006\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"facebook-engineer-fights-employers-anti-gun-anti-conservative-bias-inside\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\">conservative news stories<\/a> on the website\u2019s \u201ctrending\u201d news section.<\/p>\n<p>A former news curator and journalist told Gizmodo that \u201cworkers prevented stories about the right-wing CPAC gathering, Mitt Romney, Rand Paul, and other conservative topics from appearing in the highly-influential section, even though they were organically trending among the site\u2019s users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDepending on who was on shift, things would be blacklisted or trending,\u201d the former curator continued. \u201cI believe it had a chilling effect on conservative news.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other examples of blackballed news items include former IRS official Lois Lerner, who was accused by Republicans of inappropriately scrutinizing conservative groups; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker; popular conservative news aggregator the Drudge Report; Chris Kyle, the former Navy SEAL who was murdered in 2013; and former Fox News contributor Steven Crowder.<\/p>\n<p>According to Gizmodo\u2019s report, Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/737806312958641\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"facebook-engineer-fights-employers-anti-gun-anti-conservative-bias-inside\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\">presents their news stories as organically \u201ctrending,\u201d<\/a> when in reality their team of <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/want-to-know-what-facebook-really-thinks-of-journalists-1773916117\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"facebook-engineer-fights-employers-anti-gun-anti-conservative-bias-inside\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\">young, Ivy-Leave, East Cost<\/a> news curators choose which stories to inject or exclude, sometimes promoting stories that aren\u2019t organically trending at all.<\/p>\n<p>This is perhaps what causes the most consternation among conservatives and pro-gun Facebook users. Facebook portrays itself as an unbiased third party, a tool that can be used by anyone with a computer and a modem. The truth is that Facebook is just as biased as any other anti-gun media outlet, and they\u2019re not afraid to flex their muscles to promote their agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, there is a silver lining\u2014two, in fact.<\/p>\n<p>The first is that Facebook users are fighting back against the site\u2019s ban on private gun sales. As this anti-gun Forbes article laments, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/mattdrange\/2016\/05\/09\/facebook-guns-5-reasons-not-working\/#49d3ab2614d6\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"facebook-engineer-fights-employers-anti-gun-anti-conservative-bias-inside\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\">Facebook\u2019s ban isn\u2019t working.<\/a> Secret firearms groups have been able to avoid detection by overzealous anti-gun users, and pro-gun users have developed posting methods that allow them to avoid detection.<\/p>\n<p>The second silver lining comes from an unexpected place: within Facebook itself.<\/p>\n<p>Chuck Rossi is a director of engineering at Facebook, and, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/mattdrange\/2016\/05\/03\/as-facebook-struggles-to-combat-gun-sales-one-of-its-own-brings-gun-groups-back-online\/#7e9103ef3cb3\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"facebook-engineer-fights-employers-anti-gun-anti-conservative-bias-inside\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\">according to Forbes<\/a>, has been described by pro-gun Facebook users as \u201ca good guy working for us behind enemy lines,\u201d \u201cone of our allies,\u201d \u201ca man who gives us hope,\u201d and, \u201cthe ultimate badass.\u201d He\u2019s one of Facebook\u2019s most prominent gun enthusiasts, and he\u2019s made it his unofficial mission to support gun groups struggling to survive in a hostile environment.<\/p>\n<p>Rossi is the leader of the \u201cAdmin Contact\u201d group, a secret group\u00a0of administrators for gun enthusiast pages\u00a0from around the country.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_57168\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57168\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-57168\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Chuck-Rossi-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"Chuck Rossi, a pro-gun engineer at Facebook. \" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Chuck-Rossi-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Chuck-Rossi-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Chuck-Rossi.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-57168\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chuck Rossi, a pro-gun engineer at Facebook. (<em>Photo: Forbes)<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI am 100% laser focused on getting your groups back to you so you have a chance to get them to comply with the new policy,\u201d Rossi wrote on the group\u2019s page shortly after the private sale ban was announced. \u201cIt is my sole freaking purpose in life until it is done. I\u2019m dumping extra work on my mangers (sic) and my teams to cover for me while I take on this new role. I know this new policy sucks. I personally don\u2019t agree with it and everyone in Facebook is pissed about how it was rolled out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gun control groups have not been happy. \u201cWe\u2019ve shut down thousands (of posts and group pages), reporting hundreds per day. And then we see them pop back up again, which is really upsetting,\u201d said a woman who has organized recent volunteer efforts to flag gun sales on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFacebook allows admins to either remove posts, and be reinstated, or remove members, but then do the same thing again,\u201d the organizer said. \u201cIt\u2019s like trying to scoop the ocean with a sieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is good news for gun enthusiasts on Facebook, but the fight is far from over. Gun control via the marketplace\u2014rather than via state or federal legislation\u2014is looking like the new anti-gun tactic. The anti-gun lobby hasn\u2019t been able to accomplish their goals through representatives of the people, so they\u2019re turning to private corporations like Facebook or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/TheWire\/sandy-hook-parents-remington-lawsuit\/2016\/02\/22\/id\/715500\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"facebook-engineer-fights-employers-anti-gun-anti-conservative-bias-inside\" title=\"Facebook Engineer Fights His Employer\u2019s Anti-Gun, Anti-Conservative Bias From the Inside\">lawsuits against gun manufacturers<\/a>.
