The video above will most likely elicit one of two reactions. Either (a) it will confirm in one\u2019s mind that when it comes to the Constitution, that critically important document that limits the powers of government and codifies the rights of the people, Hillary Clinton doesn\u2019t know her butt from a hole in the ground. Or (b) one will defend Hillary, and argue that it was an honest mistake.<\/p>\n

So, here\u2019s what happened. While appearing on the Steve Harvey Show, or whatever it\u2019s called, Hillary Clinton started to pitch her anti-gun agenda to the audience, suggesting that it\u2019s time for people to take on the National Rifle Association and remind it what the Constitution says.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got to say to the gun lobby, you know what, there is a constitutional right for people to own guns, but there\u2019s also a constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that enables us to have a safe country where we are able to protect our children and others from this senseless gun violence,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Clinton is, of course, confusing the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution. The Declaration of Independence states, \u201cWe hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Putting the conflation aside, Clinton is wrong that these two ideas are in conflict with one another. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the Second Amendment is what safeguards one\u2019s unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.<\/p>\n

Remember, government is the biggest existential threat to one\u2019s liberties \u2014 not some gang banger with a gun. Yes, we all want to keep guns out of the hands of prohibited persons, but not at the expense of one\u2019s right to keep and bear arms. If we disarm America \u2014 or subarm America<\/a> \u2014 as Hillary wants in a futile effort to keep bad guys from obtaining guns, we will inevitably lose those unalienable rights stated in the Declaration of Independence to government tyranny. And we will also lose all the rights codified in the Constitution: free speech, religion, due process, etc., to government tyranny. \u00a0Not to mention the fact that without the 2A we will be defenseless against the very gang-banger we tried to disarm via Hillary’s gun-control agenda in the first place. \u00a0Gun control is a lose, lose proposition.<\/p>\n

Our founders and framers knew how critically important an armed America was to preserving freedom. It\u2019s why they included the Second Amendment. Hillary should know this. She\u2019s running for president! But then again, maybe she doesn\u2019t really care about what the Constitution says.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
