Will he run?<\/p>\n<p>Well, this week, the former New York City mayor told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/2\/b6d1fc34-ce9f-11e5-831d-09f7778e7377.html#axzz3zgeMABK9\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"will-bloomberg-run-for-president-in-2016\" title=\"Will Bloomberg Run for President in 2016?\">Financial Times <\/a>that he was \u201clooking at all the options,\u201d with respect to throwing his hat into the ring.<\/p>\n<p>The gun-control czar also lamented the current state of affairs with respect to the 2016 presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find the level of discourse and discussion distressingly banal and an outrage and an insult to the voters,\u201d said Bloomberg, adding that the public deserved \u201ca lot better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With a personal fortune in excess of $39 billion, there\u2019s no doubt that Bloomberg has the money to self-finance a competitive bid. Is he serious, though? Bloomberg<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2015\/10\/stop-trying-to-make-bloomberg-happen\/411514\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"will-bloomberg-run-for-president-in-2016\" title=\"Will Bloomberg Run for President in 2016?\"> has flirted <\/a>with the idea of running for president in the past, but nothing came of it.<\/p>\n<p>This time, however, things could be different.<\/p>\n<p>According to a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/01\/24\/nyregion\/bloomberg-sensing-an-opening-revisits-a-potential-white-house-run.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"will-bloomberg-run-for-president-in-2016\" title=\"Will Bloomberg Run for President in 2016?\"> report in the New York Times last month,<\/a> Bloomberg told his advisers to draft a campaign plan with him running as an independent.<\/p>\n<p>While that plan has yet to see the light of day, it easy to predict which voters Bloomberg would target as a candidate for president: fiscally conservative, socially liberal voters who want to rein in government spending and push the progressive agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Part of that progressive agenda, of course, is to disarm America. I think that&#8217;s where this billionaire business magnate will run into trouble. \u00a0With 100,000 million gun owners in this country, it&#8217;s hard to believe that they&#8217;d get behind a rabid, anti-gunner. \u00a0Then again, they elected and re-elected Obama.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, it&#8217;ll be a game of wait and see. \u00a0If Bloomberg continues to be displeased by what he&#8217;s seeing on the campaign trail, mainly, outsiders taking over,\u00a0e.g. Hillary getting her butt kicked by Sanders, Trump dominating the GOP, he may jump in. But if establishment candidates (Hillary, Rubio) from both parties end up getting the nom, then he&#8217;ll probably sit this one out. \u00a0I guess that&#8217;s how I see it playing out. \u00a0What are your thoughts?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bloomberg: 2016?
