I respect both Craig Douglas, aka \u201cSouthnarc,\u201d and Michael Janich as personal defense instructors. However, they both have very different approaches to knife tactics. Different does not mean wrong, it just means different<\/em>. \u00a0As the cliche goes, there\u00a0is more than one way to skin a cat.<\/p>\n

The Spyderco Reverse, a very versitile self-defense blade.<\/p><\/div>\n

Craig and Michael (who are good friends) decided to co-design a knife that would work equally well with both their self-defense methods. As a result, of this collaboration comes the “Reverse” <\/a>by Spyderco.<\/p>\n

As the name of the knife would imply, the Reverse has a truly unique reversible handle; this feature allows you to change the orientation of the blade\u2019s edge to be switched from Douglas\u2019 preferred edge-in orientation to Janich\u2019s edge-out style.<\/p>\n

The handle consists of two textured G-10 scales machined to create a hollow cavity for the blade tang. Removing the three bolts in the handle with a Torx T-8 wrench (included) allows the scales to be easily removed and mounted to the tang with the blade\u2019s edge in either orientation. The Reverse\u2019s blade is precision machined from CTS BD1 stainless steel. The Reverse includes a custom-molded Boltaron sheath that allows the knife to fit securely with both handle configurations.<\/p>\n

The Reverse\u2019s blade is precision machined from CTS BD1 stainless steel. The Reverse includes a custom-molded Boltaron sheath that allows the knife to fit securely with both handle configurations.<\/p>\n

The reverse was introduced mid-year 2015, but was hard to find due to the high demand. The good news is the knife is now in stock, with a very reasonable MSRP to boot: $149.95.<\/p>\n

We all need a tomahawk, don\u2019t ask me why this is we just do. Spyderco as scratched that itch with the SzaboHawk<\/a> this modern tomahawk designed to excel as both a tool and a close-combat weapon.<\/p>\n

Constructed from a solid billet of .300-inch-thick D2 tool steel, it features a curved handle that places its center of balance midway down the handle. This will make it faster in the hand than conventional designs.
