{"id":50376,"date":"2016-01-14T12:04:04","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T17:04:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=50376"},"modified":"2016-01-14T12:04:04","modified_gmt":"2023-08-19T07:01:03","slug":"lapierre-challenges-obama-to-a-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/lapierre-challenges-obama-to-a-debate\/","title":{"rendered":"LaPierre Challenges Obama\u2026 To a Debate!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Rifle Association exec. vice president Wayne LaPierre challenged president Obama to a one-on-one, face-to-face, knock-down-drag-out\u2026 <del datetime=\"2016-01-14T15:49:56+00:00\">cage match<\/del> debate!<\/p>\n<p>In a recent video the head of the gun lobby fired back at POTUS, saying that while he wouldn\u2019t appear at any of Obama\u2019s \u201cfixed fights,\u201d like last week\u2019s town hall meeting on gun control, he would meet the president on stage, with a neutral moderator acting as ref.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll meet you for a one-on-one, one-hour debate\u2014with a mutually agreed-upon moderator\u2014on any network that will take it,\u201d said LaPierre. \u201cNo pre-screened questions and no gas-bag answers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmericans will judge for themselves who they trust and believe on this issue\u2014you or the NRA,\u201d continued LaPierre. \u201cLet\u2019s see if you\u2019re game for a fair debate. It\u2019s your chance to show the American people you\u2019re not afraid to meet the NRA on neutral ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wow! There it is. Quite the challenge for Obama. Man, would I love to see this spectacle! Can you imagine, Barack versus Wayne 2016? That would be epic.<\/p>\n<p>To be honest, I think Obama would have the advantage. He is, after all, a more seasoned debater. Plus, he is more cool-headed and charismatic than Wayne (who can be rigid and awkward at times).<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t get me wrong, LaPierre would have the facts and information down pat, but in most debates style wins \u2014 not substance. For proof of that just watch the next GOP debate and really listen to Trump\u2019s simplistic answer\u2019s versus someone like Rubio, Cruz or Fiorina. In terms of detail and specificity, it\u2019s not even close. They all blow Trump out of the water. Yet, Trump is leading in the polls.<\/p>\n<p>So, I applaud LaPierre for putting the challenge to Obama.
