Case in point, an ordinance passed in Los Angeles over the summer that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/common-sense-confiscation-in-los-angeles-as-magazine-ban-passes\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"la-law-criminalizing-possession-of-10-round-magazine-set-to-roll-out\" title=\"L.A. Law Criminalizing Possession of 10-round Magazine Set to Roll Out\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criminalizes the possession of magazines <\/a>that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>Today, those magazines are lawful property. By Thursday, Nov. 19, those magazines will be contraband, and anyone caught with one will be slapped with a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, a request for an injunction on the <a href=\"https:\/\/clkrep.lacity.org\/onlinedocs\/2013\/13-0068_rpt_atty_06-26-14.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"la-law-criminalizing-possession-of-10-round-magazine-set-to-roll-out\" title=\"L.A. Law Criminalizing Possession of 10-round Magazine Set to Roll Out\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ordinance<\/a>, which would have prevented it from rolling out until the case against the ban was decided in court, was denied by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Chalfant this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a victory for common sense gun violence prevention laws,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lacityattorney.org\/#!Court-Rejects-Attempt-to-Delay-Enforcement-of-the-Citys-Ban-on-Large-Capacity-Magazines\/c1143\/5645299a0cf2e1ca279604b6\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"la-law-criminalizing-possession-of-10-round-magazine-set-to-roll-out\" title=\"L.A. Law Criminalizing Possession of 10-round Magazine Set to Roll Out\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> City Attorney Mike Feuer, in reference to the judge\u2019s decision. \u201cThe use of these magazines has so often led to tragedy. This law will help prevent those horrible events in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>City leaders are instructing gun owners to turn over their magazines to law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe City Council banned the possession of large-capacity magazines to give law enforcement another tool to keep people safe and get these dangerous devices off the streets,&#8221; said City Councilmember Paul Krekorian, author of the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStarting next week, Los Angeles will start enforcing and upholding the ban. I urge anyone currently in possession of these illegal magazines to turn them in at an LAPD station before enforcement begins,\u201d added Kerkorian.<\/p>\n<p>However, gun rights activists say the battle is not over. While they are encouraging gun owners to follow the new law, they are going to continue to pursue their lawsuit challenging the city\u2019s mag ban.<\/p>\n<p>The case is tentatively scheduled to be heard in the summer of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Serious question, what would you do with your magazines if you were a Los Angeles resident?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cStarting next week, Los Angeles will start enforcing and upholding the ban.
