{"id":44448,"date":"2015-09-29T00:47:25","date_gmt":"2015-09-29T04:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=44448"},"modified":"2015-09-29T00:47:25","modified_gmt":"2023-08-19T01:49:59","slug":"graphic-footage-officer-fatally-shoots-man-pretending-to-draw-weapon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/graphic-footage-officer-fatally-shoots-man-pretending-to-draw-weapon\/","title":{"rendered":"Graphic Footage: Officer Fatally Shoots Man Pretending to Draw Weapon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Baltimore man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon by a police officer after the man pretended to draw a weapon, <a href=\"https:\/\/baltimore.cbslocal.com\/2015\/09\/25\/man-fatally-shot-by-police-in-reisterstown-is-identified\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"graphic-footage-officer-fatally-shoots-man-pretending-to-draw-weapon\" title=\"Graphic Footage: Officer Fatally Shoots Man Pretending to Draw Weapon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">local media reports<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Footage shows the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Keith Harrison McLeod, of Washington, D.C, and the officer, identified only by his last name, Officer Earomirski, in the midst of a confrontation.  <\/p>\n<p>Earomirski has his gun drawn on McLeod, and when McLeod reaches behind his back, Earomirski fires the three shots that proved to be fatal.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy police officer had one second to make a life or death decision,\u2019 said Chief James Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>According to authorities, McLeod tried to use a fake prescription at a local pharmacy.  Police arrived on the scene to investigate and approached McLeod in the parking lot. <\/p>\n<p>McLeod fled the scene, leading police on a foot pursuit.  He was eventually cornered in a dead-end alley where he started to threaten the officers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect on the other hand, according to witnesses and others, repeatedly use profanities, screamed and yelled at the officer, \u2018I\u2019m going to kill you. I\u2019m going to kill you. I\u2019m going to kill you\u2019,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny reasonable officer, or citizen encountering this situation, would feel they\u2019re facing imminent harm and or death,\u2019 continued the Chief.<\/p>\n<p>No weapon was found on the McLeod, who was later pronounced dead. The footage was captured by a video surveillance camera belonging to a nearby business.  <\/p>\n<p>Earomirski has been placed on administrative leave.
