Delta State professor Shannon Lamb fled the campus after fatally shooting a fellow cohort, and is now on the loose in what authorities believe to be the vehicle of his slain girlfriend.<\/p>\n
Lamb is still at large and was last seen driving a Dodge Avenger linked to Amy Prentiss, who was fatally shot in Gautier earlier in the day. Police have had contact with Lamb after the shooting and advised all law enforcement agencies to \u201cuse extreme caution\u201d because he \u201cwill not go to jail.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lamb, who recently received his doctorate, was a professor of social sciences at Delta State. Police believe he first killed his girlfriend in Ocean Springs before fatally shooting history professor Ethan Schmidt on the DSU campus. <\/p>\n
Schmidt was transported to an area hospital but was later declared dead. Lamb, meanwhile, fled the scene and has been on the run ever since. <\/p>\n
Local law enforcement agencies are scrambling to apprehend Lamb before he any further deaths occur. <\/p>\n
\u201cGovernor Bryant is in communication with President LaForge and with the Department of Public Safety Commissioner Albert Santa Cruz. The governor has offered the full support and assistance of DPS, including the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi Highway Patrol,\u201d said spokeswoman Nicole Webb.<\/p>\n
