SilencerCo is one of the more forward-thinking and trendy businesses within the gun industry. Based upon their product offerings, company messaging <\/a>and overall style, one can argue that they really have a knack for appealing to the millennial generation, new shooters and those on the peripheral of the gun world. They design cool stuff for cool people, and it seems that everyone takes note.<\/p>\n

Perhaps that\u2019s just my impression of SilencerCo, but regardless, I\u2019m happy to see that they\u2019re expanding the company. On Thursday, executives announced the launch of SilencerCo Weapons Research (SWR), which will seek to explore the frontiers of bionic capability.<\/p>\n

\u201cSWR was created to make hunting and shooting technologies accessible to everyone,\u201d said the company in a press release<\/a>. \u201cFor too long, most human augmentation technologies have been unnecessarily prohibited from commercial sale or have been priced out of the attainable range of most civilians. SWR not only believes that consumers deserve better – they plan to show it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Specifically, SilencerCo is looking to delve into the field of electro-optics, which would include night and thermal vision. The goal will be to make these products affordable and capable of enhancing the shooter’s ability to engage targets, positively identify prey in multiple spectrums, and reduce shooter signature.<\/p>\n

“All SWR products will address a particular hunting and shooting pain point that has been tolerated for too long,” noted SilencerCo CEO Joshua Waldron, “While our core focus will always be on making firearms quieter, we saw an opportunity to innovate with technology products by focusing on what normal hunters and shooters need and want to make their experience better.”<\/p>\n

The first SWR product will be announced this month and will ship at some point this year. More SWR products will follow down the road.<\/p>\n
