Hummer\u2019s are arguably one of the coolest vehicles ever developed. They\u2019re tough, can climb vertical walls, and are almost as wide as they are they long. But these monsters of off-road have seen their day, and the Army plans to replace them with a newer, better vehicle.<\/p>\n
The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (L-ATV) will be built by Oshkosh, who plans to replace 55,000 Humvees over a period of time for an estimated cost of nearly $30 billion. <\/p>\n
The new vehicles will be faster, have improved ballistic and explosive protection, and will come standard with GPS and an array of other techy electronic warfare components.<\/p>\n
In other words, it\u2019ll be like a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) on steroids.<\/p>\n
