{"id":40882,"date":"2015-08-05T15:19:26","date_gmt":"2015-08-05T19:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=40882"},"modified":"2015-08-05T15:19:26","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T22:21:04","slug":"cop-draws-gun-on-man-with-camera-then-asks-are-you-some-kind-of-constitutionalist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/cop-draws-gun-on-man-with-camera-then-asks-are-you-some-kind-of-constitutionalist\/","title":{"rendered":"Cop Draws Gun on Man with Camera, then Asks: \u2018Are you some kind of Constitutionalist?\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Officials in Rohnert Park, California, are reviewing footage of a public safety officer\u2019s confrontation with a resident after the man uploaded the incident to Youtube, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/lanow\/la-me-ln-gun-officer-video-recording-20150805-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"cop-draws-gun-on-man-with-camera-then-asks-are-you-some-kind-of-constitutionalist\" title=\"Cop Draws Gun on Man with Camera, then Asks: \u2018Are you some kind of Constitutionalist?\u2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LA Times reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Don McComas, the resident who filmed the encounter, was attempting to hook his boat to a trailer in front of his home when he noticed the public safety officer repeatedly driving by in an SUV.<\/p>\n<p>Concerned about the officer\u2019s intentions, McComas began to record the officer in the vehicle. Eventually, the officer got out of the vehicle and began to state commands to McComas, which included, telling him to get his hands out of his pockets.<\/p>\n<p>McComas replied, \u201cNo sir, I\u2019ve done nothing. I have done absolutely nothing. No.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The officer then removed his gun from his holster and approached McComas.<\/p>\n<p>McComas responded, \u201cPut your gun down, really?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McComas then asked why the officer stopped, to which the officer responded, \u201cYou taking a picture of me. I am taking a picture of you.\u201d The officer then asked if McComas was \u201csome kind of a constitutionalist or crazy guy or something like that\u201d and \u201cWhy are you doing this?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McComas, replied, \u201cWhy are you sitting here with your gun on me? This is why I am doing this. To protect myself from you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps realizing that he had nothing on McComas, the officer left the scene but not before saying, \u201cGo ahead, have a nice day and put it on YouTube.
