Little did the assailant know, however, that Rayow disregarded the company\u2019s no-gun policy, and was armed with a pistol.<\/p>\n<p>After an argument broke out between the two men, Mermel choked Rayow, \u201cwho pulled a gun from his waistband.\u201d In the ensuing altercation, Mermel was shot in the foot.<\/p>\n<p>But this is far from the first time a gun used against or by an UBER driver. Two months before the new policy was enacted, one UBER driver used his <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/bersa-bp380-concealed-carry\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"uber-driver-disregards-companys-gun-free-zone-policy-shoots-passenger-who-was-choking-him\" title=\"UBER Driver Disregards Company\u2019s \u2018Gun-Free Zone\u2019 Policy, Shoots Passenger Who Was Choking Him\" target=\"_blank\">conceal carry weapon<\/a> to thwart an attempted mass shooting in Chicago, and shortly after the new policy was set in motion another UBER driver was robbed at gunpoint.<\/p>\n<p>The reality is, we live in a world filled with guns, and paperwork doesn\u2019t deter criminals from disobeying the law.
