“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…They’re sending people who have lots of problems,” Trump said in a recent speech. “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”<\/p>\n
Trump came under fire for the remarks and on Monday NBC officially said they would no longer work with the real estate icon on their jointly owned properties the Miss USA pageant, scheduled for July 12, and the Miss Universe pageant. <\/p>\n
“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values,” the company said in a statement. “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.”<\/p>\n
It didn\u2019t take long for Trump to take a dig at NBC following the announcement. <\/p>\n
“If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe\/Miss USA will be determined in court,\u201d said Trump. <\/p>\n
“They will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be,\u201d added Trump. <\/p>\n
“The Apprentice,\u201d another NBC-Trump project is also presumably on the chopping block. NBC said it would \u201cre-evaluate\u201d Trump\u2019s role on the reality show after he announced he was running for president but it\u2019s hard to see how they\u2019ll reconcile after this latest development.<\/p>\n
