Not sure about the trigger-finger discipline in this photo.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In an editorial published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnd.com\/2015\/06\/preventing-more-church-shootings\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"chuck-norris-on-church-shooting-faith-is-not-an-excuse-to-bypass-self-defense\" title=\"Chuck Norris on Church Shooting: \u2018Faith is not an excuse to bypass self-defense\u2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WND<\/a>, American martial artist, actor, film producer and screenwriter Chuck Norris argued that in the wake of the mass shooting at the Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, it is time for churches and other places of worship to consider armed security and a permissive concealed carry policy as a means to defend against violent assailants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImagine once again, if just one of those Christians who held a Bible in their hand at that AME church also packed a pistol via a legal concealed weapons permit. Souls could have been saved,\u201d wrote Norris who cited stats to suggest that church violence has increased since 2007 from 41 incidents to 176 incidents in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Norris then directly challenged leaders of the faithful to take action, to do something to help prevent another tragic incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is why I have a challenge for pastors and church leaders,\u201d Norris wrote. \u201cWith all due respect, it\u2019s about time that they woke up to the idea that providing for and protecting God\u2019s flock means increasing church security, from children\u2019s classes to main sanctuaries and fellowship halls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFaith is not an excuse to bypass self-defense,\u201d Norris continued. \u201cThat\u2019s not my original idea or position. Do you?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cBut now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don\u2019t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one\u201d (Luke 22:36).<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s clear in the editorial is that Norris doesn\u2019t want places of worship to be soft targets any longer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt reminds me of the sign near the front door of my Texas ranch,\u201d wrote Norris. \u201cIt has an engraved picture of a gun with the words next to it: \u201cWe don\u2019t call 9-1-1.\u201d Maybe it\u2019s time a few churches put that sign on their doors, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What are your thoughts?
