Human Rights Experts: \u2018Urgent measures must be taken\u2019 following Church Shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">calling for <\/a>&#8220;urgent measures&#8221; to curtail gun-related violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe utterly condemn the appalling attack on the Emanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston, South Carolina, this week and the killing of nine African Americans,\u201d the said Mireille Fanon-Mendes-France, the chairperson of the United Nations Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUrgent measures must be taken to prevent gun violence and racist crimes motivated by prejudice that affect the security of Afro-Americans, their communities and society as a whole,\u201d continued the statement.<\/p>\n<p>There was no explication of what exactly those \u201curgent measures\u201d should be, but given that it\u2019s coming from a faction of the U.N., the authors of the <a href=\"\/blog\/obama-push-un-arms-trade-treaty\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"u-n-human-rights-experts-urgent-measures-must-be-taken-following-church-shooting\" title=\"U.N.
